D&D 5E Excited about the new version so I preordered

While I am waiting for the books, is the starter set worth getting?

For our new group, it will provide a way to get started before the books are available, without having to improvise anything. Long term, I can imagine using the Starter Set to introduce the game to new players. For example, I'll take it with me when we go to visit my wife's family over Christmas this year, and perhaps run it for our nieces and nephews.

Been working tons of overtime but finally picked up the starter set. Still reading it but I really like it. Can't wait for the rest of the books get released

I was actually pretty enthused for 4e. I got a game of lapsed players and newbies together when it came out because it seemed much easier to get into. And it was and we played it enjoyably for years. A lot of the nay saying about it seemed to be overblown to the extreme but it did get slow to play at higher levels.

But I and my crew are still super jazzed for 5e. I like new systems to play with and from what we have played so far it has a nice feel and considerably quicker small combats. I have the books preorderd at FLGS (Actually all the way across town, the most friendly one in Madison is on the west side) and am psyched to see what characters my players come up with.
