D&D 5E Exodus

Trace again resists the impulse to salute. Instead he just nods and offers a quick "Yessir. Will do." He fights to retain his focus with Harrington's words echo through his head. '...round up everyone on this video...' He briefly considers telling the colonel about his cousin, then rejects it. He may not even be on the video. I didn't see when he left, but surely it was before Dr. Sanguine started recording. Don't borrow trouble.

Shaking off his worries, he turns to Reyes. "I would prefer to get the samples and scans in my lab, where I have access to all of my equipment. Do you have any objection to moving the alien there, at least temporarily?"

"Sir, yes Sir!" Airman Babington snaps off another salute to the Colonel before turning to take his place in the group and work on communicating more with the creature. He had to do his part to help in this situation the best he could. It was the least he could do to try and not fail more of his brothers in arms.

Juno salutes again and barks, "Sir!" before turning to look back at the prisoner stonily. This was what she got for sticking her neck out.

When Trace speaks to her, she gives him her attention and replies, "We can move her there, but we'll need to make sure it's secure before we can turn you loose on her. Armed guard at all times, restraints and some way to control entrance and exit. Until that's ready we can put her in an empty cabin I guess and override the lock so she can't get out."

Airman Babington announced, "Wherever we go, I'm going with her. I need to stay by ... it to learn what I can of it's language. Damn! We need to give it... her... whatever, a name. The whole she/her/it thing is getting old already.", he stops to think for a moment before offering up, "How about... Lilith??" Turning to the demoness, he speaks again, trying to dust off his Latin... "We name you Lilith? Nos nomino tu Lilith?" he points at her and waits to see if she understands.

"A name?" Doctor Sanduine echoed. "Oh, yes, that's probably a good idea. Lilith seems like a good name, very classical."

The blonde woman reached for her holo-recorder, then began to pat her pockets. She looked perplexed for a moment, before realization crossed her face. "I... gave my recording to the officer..." she said with a sigh.

The demon woman shakes her head, her eyes betraying a sense of fear and dread, and points downward. Holding up six fingers, she says, "Moloch conjuga Lilith, Malbolge."

Dr. Sanduine recognizes the word "Malbolge" as the eighth circle of Hell in Dante's Inferno. The name "Moloch" is also familiar - an ancient Ammonite God that was later seen in the Bible as a word meaning either "seed" or "offspring." The name also appears in Milton's Paradise Lost as that of a fallen angel.

Babington understands "conjuga" to mean either spouse or, more likely, consort.

Meanwhile, the group is able to escort the demon to the ship's secondary medical bay, which also serves as a biological sciences lab, with two marines serving as armed escort. She doesn't offer any resistance, but looks to Juno for direction and confirmation whenever there seems to be a question as to what she is supposed to do.

She doesn't acknowledge any pain when her blood is drawn, but seems to take an interest in the pendant worn by a med tech, grabbing it and holding it up, much to the alarm of the tech. The pendant is a simple ankh, but the symbol seems to have some significance for the demon.

Juno is quiet during all this, watching the prisoner and otherwise letting the eggheads do their jobs. But when the alien reaches out to grab one of the techs, Juno's on her like flies on crap...grabbing her wrist before she can do much more than hold it up.

"Let it go," she says with a quiet in her voice that is not soft in the least. "Right. Now."

The demon doesn't understand the words, but she seems to understand the intent and releases the ankh. She slowly takes Juno's hand and mimics, "Right. Now." Then points at Juno, then says it again in a questioning tone, "Right Now?"

Airman Babington steps up quickly to defuse the situation..."Let go. Non Praebo. Do not hold. Understand? Intelligunt? She said something about being the wife or consort of Maloch. I don't know what Malbolge is though. I don't think that's Latinish."

Doctor Sanduine pursed her lips, tapping them with a pen. "Classically, Malbolge is the eight level of hell. And Moloch is a word that pops up throughout history, in different places. It can be a god, it can mean offspring... It's even a fallen angel in Paradise Lost."
