EXP for MVP

Tomovasky

First Post
So I was think about using MVP type award after game and giving EXP for the winer. So I was just wondering how many EXP do you give for some thing like this, Also do any of you use MVP , How do you deside you gets it should it be players that desied or the whole group.

I'll post some of my ideas after I see what you guys come up with

Like having everyone vote for who did the best that session and giving that person extra XP? I think unless you have all players of equal ability (and that's really rare) that the same one or two people will get it most the time.

I concur with Crothian. I seriously dislike playing favorites, or singling out players for things like this, because you're going to likely have some players regularly "win" this, and some never do so, and it's likely to create hard feelings.

Of course, it might provole some of those weaker players to step up and start carrying their own/ being a little more creative in game play. If all they do is sit back and wait for those two or so players who actually come up with the plays/ ideas to get it done and collect the same reward at the backside, it hardly seems like a good deal for those who actually try to contribute. The rewards for gameplay and good roleplaying are a great idea IMHO.

Arive to game before I do / Host the game 100xp credits
Bring snacks for us all 100XP credits per dollar spent.
I'm Late 100XP credits per hour to all players

Maximum of 100XP credits per character level can be cashed in per session.

If you are an hour late I want more then a measley 100xp. I think if a DM told me that it would mean he expects to be late. And that's not a good thing.

My DM used to do that! There was a percentage of the group's total earned XP for that session that went to the the "MVP". All the players secretly voted for them at the end of the session. It was basically, "who made the night work for you" sort of thing. Could have been the PC who roleplayed the best, the player who played strongly and saved the group, or even the character who needed the XP. Everyone loved helping the cleric level up.

I use to go the way of the players voting after game... and well your right at first only 2 pepole would win, but after a month of this my games got funer and funer becuase all the players tried harder.

Yet after reading 118 of knights of the diner table GameMaster's workshop "working out the kinks part two" I got the idea to using th "king of the moment" to deside MVP, For you who do not read knights here's the idea. I hand out a Chess pice, well the king when a player dose something that is creative or just lucky they get to be king for the moment. Now how I see it is I can award or the players can award the title of king. But eather by the end of game who has had the king the most or the person with it last will get a "MVP bounes".... of I not shure what yet.

Well, in my campaign, I give xp for both MVP and best roleplayer. At the end of each session, each player votes anonymously on an index card; I then tally the votes and give the award.
