expanded golem creation?

If a PC (with all the appropriate feats and spells pertaining to this question) wanted to create a golem, is there any reason he wouldn't be able to add other effects to that golem above and beyond the original golem specs?

For example, if a PC wanted to make a golem with +4 strength. Would it be reasonable to allow the PC to burn extra gold and XP equal to the cost of a +4 strength item (since he could technically make one anyway and put it on the golem)? What about if the bonus was basically integrated into the creature? Would there be an sort of extra cost for that utility or not?

What about increasing a golem's HD? Are there any rules for this kind of thing, and if not would it be reasonable? This thread can quickly take a turn for the House Rules forum, but I thought I'd ask here first to see if there were any rules in any books that might have mentioned something like this.

Here ya go.
Note: The market price of an advanced golem (a golem with more Hit Dice than the typical golem described in each entry) is increased by 5,000 gp for each additional Hit Die, and increased by an additional 50,000 gp if the golem’s size increases. The XP cost for creating an advanced golem is equal to 1/25 the advanced golem’s market price minus the cost of the special materials required.
As for an Item, Just make the item for the golem. Otherwise I recommend a 30% upcharge for an 'integrated, non removable, non sunderable item" that takes up an item slot. Like an enchanted tatoo.

Unslotted, integrated, non removable, non sunderable item. Item cost x 2.6

Thanks! I had totally overlooked that bit in the golem's entry in the MM. That exactly answers my question. :)

Well, the item is not able to be sundered or stolen or lost in any way, but it's also not able to be shared or borrowed and it would be destroyed when the golem is destroyed as well. I'm thinking the positives pretty much equal the negatives for the most part. Other thoughts?
