I'm sure the answer is no, but,
The group encounter a vampire locked in a room they released it and it tried to escape, it got away and I just wanted to know if they should receive any exp. for fighting it?
Now the vampire did do what it wanted to do was to get away.

I'd say no. The vampire achieved it's objective; without more info on party actions, it sounds as if they did not achieve their objective (probably destroying/killing it).

probably not. Exp is awarded if an opponent is defeated (not nessecarily destroyed). DOesn't sound like that happened.
