Explain Hide In Plain Sight Please...

I'm not sure how this ability works/functions while combat is engaged...

Can someone please explain how someone with Hide in Plain Sight manages to do so while there is a combat nearby?

It is a supernatural ability, as all things supernatural, it is quite difficult to explain.

Ok, I know that was not what you were looking for, but hey ... 'It's a kind of magic' ..

Are you asking what happens, or how this is logically possible?

If they are 10 feet or less from a shadow except their own, they can hide there even if they are being watched.

If you want to know how this is possible, the answer is, it isn't. That's why it is an Extraordinary ability.

Well, if they are within 10 feet of a shadow, they make a hide check, even if being casualy observed.

Ok, can that creature, who has just hidden, make an attack while hiding.... does he come out of hiding when he does so or does he stay in hiding?

Can he use his move after the attack to go back in hiding?

Must you always use a spot check to see someone with this ability working?

Hiding is part of a move action, or a MEA. So you cannot hide-attack-hide unless you are hasted.

Spot or (to some degree) Listen skill.

As AGG said, he can't attack the same round. But yes, if he is hiding he can attack, just as if a 1st level charecter is hiding (while not being observed) and later attacks and remains hidden.

Can he use his move after the attack to go back in hiding?

If he was next to someone, attacks, and is within 10 feet of a shadow, he can hide in plain sight. If he attacks and has to move to be within 10 feet, he can't hide that round.
