I would say it hit the guys foot, and an electric arc went over its body towards its neck, the arc formed a solid cord around the creatures neck, which squeezed tight lobbing the creatures head off.

I would say that the sword cut through both legs and the big guy fell over went into shock and bled to death. Leaving his feet and ankles still standing there.

You hit him so hard in the foot that he stumbles and his neck connects with your blade when he falls, instantly decapitating him.

;)

Or else don't worry too much about the details. :)

I would say that the combatant is slightly more effective than just pinking him at the toe. After all, how would you justify the fighter killing him at all with just toe plinking? :P

A giant's to is very sensitive, you know. Its secondary brain is there, as are the lungs, and several main arteries go through the giant's toe. Little known fact, but true.

Since a fighter with a longsword can fight and kill a colossal dragon, I'd say toe-plinking is a time-honored D&D concept :)
