Exploring the Hase-Suna Complex (Manzanita judging) [Concluded]

Together, Lokin's and Kol's blows are enough to kill the barbarian leader for good. For those keeping score, Lokin went before Kol, and it was Kol who struck the final blow. At this point Payne has rejoined the group, so all may confer together.

Whoever wants to, can easily administer the coup de grace to the last orc.

Kongu remarks, "Did we just kill the whole tribe? Or do you think there are more somewhere?"

Lokin checks to make sure the area is secure before wiping his blade clean.

"We should check these bodies for anything valuable. I mean anything."

Lokin opens his backpack and pulls out a folded cloth sack.

"Let's make sure we grab all of these weapons and armor and such. That kind of money can add up. First things first. Kyle, you think can look at this wound."

Lokin walks over to the priest, wincing as he pulls impacted bloody links out of the gash. He turns to respond to Kongu.

"As for the size of the tribe. Who can say? Zurd, any ideas about..."

Lokin finally notices the dead dog.

"Oh...oh. I'm sorry..."

He trails off, not knowing what to say.

Zurd administers the CDG...

Then squats down by Kurg. He reflects for a moment on his friendship with the two animals and how the three of them grew up together. He instinctively pets Kurg and closes his eyes.

He looks up at Lokin, a single tear in his eye...

Thanks...I know he died for one of us - this life would have been one of our own.

Then turning to Kongu the single tear tracing down his cheek further...

I don't know how many there are, it's odd we found no young among them though so there may yet be more hiding with them and some other females. I doubt though they would have spared many warriors in their defense it is likely the warriors are all dead.

[sblock=Orcish] May their profane gods have mercy on them if I %$@ing find any of them...I will flay them alive and eat their hearts young or no....[/sblock]

With that he casts his last spell for the day - detect magic....

He will keep the results to himself for now.

Payne searches the bodies thoroughly as the others help remove the orcs' armour. Grok wears masterwork chainmail; his two attendants wear studded leather. You find a masterwork greataxe, greatsword, longsword and masterwork dagger as weapons.

A fine yellow topaz is inserted into the hilt of the dagger.

[sblock=Zurd]Grok's greataxe has a faint magical aura. You do not have the spellcraft required to analyze it further.[/sblock]

Kol hefts the Greataxe measuring the weight of it against his own. Once determining its quality (better then his own) he discards his bloodied ax.
"I did not know Orcs where known for such craftmanship."

"Since an ax is my preferred weapon I will see it is put to good use until we are in a positition to sell the booty. Anyone disagree with that?"

Lokin laughs.

"As the one carrying the enchanted shield under similar circumstances, I have no problem with that at all. In fact, anything that makes you more effective makes us more effective. I was...um...thinking of examining the orc's mail as well. It looks a bit better than this bloody, mess I'm currently wearing. Speaking of mangled armor...Kyle, could you take a look at this axe wound?"

Kyle casts cure light wounds, healing Lokin for 6 HP.

Kongu listens to the discussion about the axe, and agrees with Kol and Lokin. "We can worry about treasure division when we get out of this place. For now, Kol can best use the axe. In the meantime, it's been a long day, and I don't know about the rest of you but I could use a little shuteye. Shall we hole up somewhere and sleep before we finish our explorations?"

Kyle adds, "If we go back to the kitchen I could cook us another meal first."
