Exploring the Hase-Suna Complex (Manzanita judging) [Concluded]

Her eyes narrow, because somehow that makes your hearing better? Who knows. Without fail, it always seems that the harder she tried to listen.. the more difficult it became. Holding up her dagger for Lokin to wait, she motions to the door and mimes the action of opening it.. then points to him and whomever else is paying attention. Her plans? To pull the door open and stand clear.. determined to see what was sniffing around the door.

Kongu, having heard nothing, catches sight of the others getting ready for action. "What is it?" she whispers, while moving closer to the door.

Kyle finishes disgorging the 'useful' contents of his backpack onto the bench, pulls a plate from his pack and starts to flour the boned and gutted rats in preperation for cooking "Can someone start the fire for me?" he calls over his shoulder.

Payne winces when Kyle bellows to them, and rolling her eyes the hesitation lost.. she shifts both daggers to one hand.. then pulls the door open hastily. Slipping back to her cover beside the door.

Payne opens the door as stealthily as she can, although most of the party still aren't sure why.

The corridor is empty.

[sblock=Payne]Well, not quite empty. The door opens outward (hinged on the left), and through its crack you spot a humanoid creature hiding behind it.[/sblock]

Kyle suddenly notices the stony silence and the hum of tension in the air. He spins on his heels and spy's his friends clustered around the door, weapons drawn and muscles trembling. "Woops, sorry" he mutters quietly as his pudgy hand crawls over the bench top and closes around the haft of a meat cleaver. "I'm coming" the last is said with a sigh as he casts an adoring glance at the pile of spiced and floured rats.

OOC: I'm, presuming there is a meat cleaver in the kitchen? I want to take it add it to Kyle's arsenal if it's cool - as a hand axe??

"What was that about?" Kongu asks. Payne motions to be quiet, pointing to the door, although nobody else can see anything unusual.

Suddenly an orc, who had evidently been squeezed between the open door and the wall to the left, bolts forward, running at full speed down the corridor by which you just came in, past the door to the room where you found all the ingredients.

Kyle: There is a meat cleaver among assorted other cooking utensils in a box on the floor. If you want to take it as a weapon, I'll check with others about how to treat it.
