Exploring the Hase-Suna Complex (Manzanita judging) [Concluded]

Everybody except Payne moves up, following the orcs, who continue the chase. They are moving at the same speed as Zurd and Kongu, slower than Kurg. If I applied the rules literally, nobody would ever be able to keep chase and also melee attack, as long as the orcs kept double-moving -- a single move wouldn't be enough to keep up, and a double move wouldn't leave time for an attack option. However, that's a silly result of treating continuous movement in discrete units (rounds). So, I rule: a creature with 40' speed chasing the orcs, who moves as far in 1.5 rounds as they do in 2 rounds, can also take a melee attack every second round. (This is, assuming that nothing changes anyone's speed...)

After the orcs' move, here's the position:

Lokin will move up as fast as he can, attacking the orcs when he can and making sure to keep within the torch radius of Zurd.

[sblock=OOC]Next attack if and when applicable: Attack: 23, Damage: 6[/sblock]

The next two weeks are going to be very hectic for me due to moving and job issues.

I am putting a temporary break on my game The Great Iridium Con until the 23rd and if in any game I am in needs to be move along please do so.

I still may be able to post, but I would rather be safe and have the Games I am in not slowed down by accident.

Kyle's breath comes in raggard gasps as he tries to run down the orcs, his legs pumping and his lungs heaving in air as he bears down for an attack with his cleaver.

Two rounds worth of activity here...

Everyone (except Payne?) gives chase, although Lokin and Kyle are unable to keep up with the orcs. Kurg manages to get one bite in before the orcs reach the next door, and a good one at that: the orc is disabled (0 HP).

The unharmed orc then opens the door into the wider corridor and moves out; the disabled orc hobbles out behind him. Zurd and Kol both hear words spoken in the corridor. They sound excited.
[sblock=Zurd]In orcish: "They have attacked us and slaughtered our people!"[/sblock]

Twisted: does Payne stay back in the big room? If so, does she do anything, or just stand alert by the door?

Awwww....%$#@!

I think we found the chief...!

Be ready!

With that he will begin to cast Color Spray, it is my intent to have it ready (standard action) then run forward and cast it on the group of Orcs should they make a stand of some kind.

If that's not possible let me know...I'll do something else.

[sblock=Question?] Orsal, I lost the notebook I was tracking Z's spells in, I think I still have:

0th Level = 1
1st Level = 3

If you have something different let me know so I can plan. Thanks.

Lokin moves up slowly, following Zurd's torchlight and pulling his shield back off his back. Strapping it into place on his left forearm, he feels more assured. He calls ahead to the half-orc.

"I'm ready if you're ready."

Sighing when everyone leaves not only the room, but her completely in the dust. Decision time. Does she poke around for any or all loot, then beat feet to get out of this complex and on with her life? Or.. does she follow the rest of the crew. Though, really, she had no idea where they disappeared off to. Grunting, the rogue moves to the door the rest of the gang ran through and peers down the hall way.

Readying an action isn't a means of doing it at one point and having it take effect later -- it's a form of delaying that comes with a "trigger". So, for example, you could ready an action for if the orcs come into your range -- in that case, your initiative position would change if the action went off, but everything would happen on your new initiative. Or you could take your move action first, going out to meet the orcs, and cast in their presence. But if you use the standard action while in the narrow hall, the spell goes off in the narrow hall.

You know that there is a fair amount of winding corridor with no branching, since you used the same passage to get to the pool room in the first place. So, unless there's some hidden door or other unseen branching, there isn't much choice for where they might have gone.

Payne sees nothing remarkable in the corridor after her friends companions have passed through.
