Falling Damage?

It's 1d10 per 10 feet, when I played the game at D&D XP. I don't know if there is a cap or not to the number of d10's, assuming you fell a long, long way.

If true, this is pretty lame. The average 1st level pc probably has 25 hp, so they could walk away from most falls of 40' (avg. damage of 22) or less. IRL, falls from further than 20' kill or cripple you 99% of the time.

Falling has always sucked. I'd hoped they would have taken the chance to fix it but I guess not. I'll just use a House Rule. Like I have been ... forever. Bleh.

FWIW I once come up with a simple (and deadly) home rule, falling damage (or any kind of damage which reasonably could not be avoided, like falling into lava, unlike say, a greataxe's swing) was always considered like a coup de grace. So if you take 30 hp of falling damage you had to pass a DC 30 fortitude check. or die.

Never tried it, so i'm not sure how it works in practice.

You know, I kinda like that idea. I might have to test it out.
