Familiars and PrCs

If a Wizard takes levels in a PrC, does it's familiar still gain it's leveling benefits for each PrC level taken? Or does the PrC need to specifically say that the familiar gains the benefits?

Just wondering if it's Natural Armor and Int go up if the master takes levels in a PrC.

Yes the Prestige Class must state that the benefits increase.

Well, let me clarify that one. Benefits that are character level based increase automatically, ones that are class level do not unless the prestige class specifically states so since it is a different class.

One way around this is to take the feat from Complete Arcane that gives you a familiar based on your arcane caster level.

One way around this is to take the feat from Complete Arcane that gives you a familiar based on your arcane caster level.

And remember to trade off your familiar for an alternate class feature while you are at it.
