Familiars: Does EVERYONE take the toad?

No, only ammunition.

If you throw the toad, you're fine. If you launch him from a Mighty Toadbow, you have a problem.

(Anyone remember the Hammerbow from W8rmy?)

-Hyp.

well then does the toad count as a grenade like weapon. and do you have to roll a break DC

My forest gnome illusionist/rogue from a while back had a huge orange tabby (almost as big as him) named Snuffles. The cat was a travelling companion and living pillow/bedroll.

That same campaign had our fighter/sorcerer (heavy on the fighter) pirate acquire a parrot as her familiar (just used the raven speech ability)

Is your Username your real name? I don't mean to be rude, but if it is, I will be utterly amazed.

Let's see...out of five arcane casters that have been in my games, one has a raven, one has a pseudodragon, and three didn't have familiars at all (although one probably would have gone for the raven if he'd been played past first level).

Hey All,

Look out for the Encyclopedia Arcane- Familiars: Crouching Monkey, Hidden Toad supplement that is coming out this month... I wrote and designed it and can't wait to see what others think about the concepts I've included in the book you can see a blurb about it over on the Mongoose Publishing site...

PS: The Top Ten Familiars included in the book are from a discussion I had a year ago on these very boards... so thanks for the help ;-)

I bloody-well hope that list included a squirrel, otherwise I'm simply not buying it.

That's only a tub of lard away. Grease up your toad and send him off on that scouting mission.

Guard 1: Did you hear something?

Guard 2: Yeah, I think so...was that...?

Guard 1: Yeah...it sounded like....a toad!

Guard 2: And he's....GREASED!
