Fantasy characters in a Space Opera

Phil -

thanks for the recommend, but I'm shooting for a much lower-magic level than Future:Arcana seems to be based on (given the blurb). I really should check out the Future Campaign Planner though. And some of the equipment guides so I can give my players toys.

Gotcha. Yeah, the Arcana PDF is for PLs 7, 8, and on.

Nope that's not the problem. The PLs are pretty much in line with the campaign.

The blurb seems to imply a much more pervasive magical influence than I'm positing for this campaign. Future: Arcana seems to be talking a bit more to the blended scenario; this is intended to be much more isolated. Until they figure out the appropriate tech-based steps to establish those conduits that Sledge suggested, the only time my group of PCs will have access to magic is during their time in Jump Space. And the PCs are the ONLY magic-using things around in normal space, not part of a subculture that deals with it.

The player characters will be unique. If you're familiar with Sarah Zettel's Reclamation, all of the PCs are in a position very similar to her main character in the novel, Eric. Except, of course, that when the story starts, he's completely acclimated/assimilated into galactic culture, and they won't be. Or perhaps a better analog might be Christopher Stasheff's character Magnus (except they don't have his semi-technological background) from his a "Wizard In..." series.

Another way to think about it is that I'm porting (as in software) the D&D characters into a fairly standard d20 Future space opera campaign.

C'mon guys, I KNOW I missed Something

Like the title says - I can't possibly have gotten everything.

For instance, any Epic Modern/Future rules available?

Catches, pitfalls, and GM advice from those of you who've mixed Fantasy and Space Opera before?

I know it might seem like I'm not listening, but that's because a lot of the World Elements have already been fixed by the previous Fantasy campaign - for consistency I really can't change them unless I've *really* goofed. (That's essentially what happened to phil's and Luwin's otherwise excellent suggestions.)

Having said that, there's still a lot of stuff to take care of, rules-wise, before I start. I've tried to cover all the bases, but this will also be my first long-term d20 Modern/Future game, so I'm sure there's stuff I don't know yet.
