IIRC, the text in the second edition was altered specifically to address the issue mentioned in this review - the GEO is now portrayed less favorably.

The biohazard company made a really sales pitch back at the 1997 GenCon. It stunk of treehugger almost to hippy commune level, but it was a good pitch.

I jusy hope FFG didn't split 1 good book into 5 sub par books [though they likly did]. but 5 each was a good enough price for me.
