D&D 5E (2014) (Fantasy) Sports?

Hi all! Has any of you developed some rules for including sports in your setting? Beside the obvious fluff (like "orc head polo") I mean

Full contact soccer to the death in Dark Sun's Draj: Ollamalitzli.

(It's for D&D 4e but could easily be adapted for D&D 5e.)

Maztica had a ball game based on the Aztec ball game.

I tried running it once, but it didn't turn out well.

I've wanted to do a hockey conversion(not necessarily on ice) but I'm way too lazy to figure out how to make it fun.

Hmm...

Did some variants of Olympic type sports more than once. Not so much team sports, though.
