The TV show on FX. Watching the first episode right now- 'bout halfway through.

I have to say that I think they cast it well. And while the pacing and...quirky lilt..of the movie still dominate, I have to say there is also a strong element of Steven King's "Needful Things" going on. Particularly, Billy Bob Thornton's character, Lorne Malvo/"St. Paul" has quite a bit of Max Von Sydow's Leland Gaunt to him.

Only know of the series. I didn't know there was a movie.

Fargo is one of the best black comedic movies I've ever seen.

FWIW, it also inspired one of my favorite NHL on ESPN ad campaigns, as the officers wander through the frozen wastelands investigating a trail of bodies, all of them dressed in the hockey gear of teams eliminated from the playoffs. When they find the Bruin under the ice, the female officer gives a great "Ooh! Now DERE'S a surprise!" (At the time, the Bruins routinely did well in the playoffs.)
