Fast Forward: Treasure Quests

Hello all,

I just picked up Fast Forwards Treasure quests book.

It is a Hardcover book, with a spiral binding.

It is filled with over a hundred mini-adventures, You can run them seperately, or many of them are linked.

Perfect for when you just don't have the time to prep for an adventure as a GM. Just open up the book, and walaa, there is an adventure.

Plus that awesome spiral binding means the book stays open. You don't need to crease the binding to keep it open. You don't need to set a book across it to keep it open. It just is open.

Very Very nice. I would like to see this approach on more products. It is pretty slick.

I notice that you're in Madison -- do you know the FFE guys? I recall seeing that the special binding delayed the release of the book, but it sounds like it was worth it. Do you have any idea how much more it cost? This book of theirs sounds a little bit like our EN ROUTE, and since we're working on EN ROUTE II now, maybe we should consider this kind of binding for it, if it really adds value and functionality for the fans...

I wish I'd gotten out to wander the hall more at the GAMA Trade Show, to see how this book turned out. Ah well...I'm sure I'll be able to find it at the FLGS!

I haven't read the book all the way through yet, but speaking as a 'normal' fan, I like the idea. I agree that it would've been perfect for En Route. I may not like all Fast Forward's stuff (the Encylopedia of Devils & Demons was okay at best) but I love the fact that they try different stuff. The selling of real rings and swords is a neat idea and the different binding for this book are actual innovations.

I saw it in my local store. It was $27. I liked the look, and felt the binding looked like it would be very functional (depending on its durability). However, $27 is more than I'm willing to spend on a book like this.

The spiral binding is a fantastic idea I got the book and its a high quality book as are all of Fast Forwards products.

Treasure quests cost $26.99 and 160 pages and Enroute was $20.95 and 128 pages I would glady pay the extra 6 dollars for this beautiful style of book.

I haven't finished reading it yet but it seems to cover all types of adventures and can be linked for 1 big adventure or dozens of small ones.

Tempted to buy

I have never bought a module or adventure in my 20 years of gaming. But this book's layout and the number of adventures makes it tempting. The only reason I am not thinking about getting it that I am Dragonstar and not a normal camapin for the time being.

The layout of the book makes it easy to pull ideals from. The sprial binding allows it lay flat and easy to read during a game. The large type and color makes finding info fast. All of these things means it will most likely be the first adventure moldule that I ever buy.

And the spiral binding would have been perfect for En Route II: Dangerous Journeys... (En Route I was another quality drop in product, IMHO).

I would love to see the spiral binding on other products, not just adventures, but rules supplements to ( or like a GM screen, but spiral bound - there is an idea......! hint hint)

As for the price, it was a little hefty, but I can see using this book over years, using a page here and a page there.... I was happy with the purchase and surprised, because the Demons and Devils didn't click with me either.

The Rings and swords books by FFE were cool, but I couldn't see using them enough to make them worth my while. This book on the other hand.....

In the general vicinity (more in Lake Geneva, really, though I think the sales manager of FFE is still working at least part-time at ACD Distribution in Madison on some projects). The whole crew at Fast Forward are really good guys, and I have to agree that they are doing some very innovative things with products and promotions (like the swords, rings, and now this unusual and useful binding). If you go to KublaCon down in Beloit (this weekend?), you'll probably find them there -- at least I think Lester Smith is planning to attend.

First let me echo the positive comments made here already. This book gives some nice compact scenarios and ideas for many game sessions to come.

One small nitpick--the map and keyed paragraphs don't line up in a couple of cases. The Orc Tunnels (Link 1C) seems to have the items listed in reverse order from the map and Lord Swill's Tower (Link 1E) switches rooms 1 and 2 around from the map.

Apart from these few minor points, this is a decent product.
