Favorite Character

hmmmmm. drow elf ranger, wielded 2 scimtars and had a figurine of wonderous power. :)

seriously now, my favorite character was a druid. his name was Ahmed and he was a prince, one of 20-30 in that particular city state with multiple wives being the norm. he was obsessed with making the city, which he considered akin to a bee hive for people, productive and free of progress limiting factors such as crime, beggars, and beaurocracy. after showing his father a small portion of his plan for the city (without the part about forcing beggars to work or die and killing off the infirm and elderly) he managed to convince his father to give him great power within the city. he killed hundreds of people in the city and was quite insane (but brilliant, 18 int and charismatic, 17 cha along with perceptive 16 wis physical stats 10 str, 15 dex, 12 con at level 16). he linked up with an ancinet gold dragon who was also nuts and they shaped the world to fit their whim until the coulcil of wyrms (tm WotC) decided to kill them for stealing the bodies of several dragons, giving them to other mortals and drinking of the life energy of dragonkind. the resulting battle tore much of the world apart. that killed millions. all over a shipfull of mere mortals that happened to be related to both my character and his buddy the gold dragon through marriages and such.

he's the guy from my tagline.

Just a quick reply for now...

Currently my favorite character is Stahvros Di'Erbeyn.... rogue 6 / sorcerer 6 / arcane trickster 6, & newly Chosen of Mystra... :)

Back in the day my favorite character was a drow ranger-mage-thief by the name of Garic Everhate. I had played him off and one for around 10 years, he got up to 18th/25th/13th by the end there... and, yes, he *DID* dual-weild scimitars... but personality wise he was nothing like Drizzt so shutyermouths :p

My first character I ever played was an Elven Wizard (mage) named Telor. He was extremely over confident though he had much intelligence and wisdom to back himself. I've played this one character for 5 years straight before our group disband. His confidence somehow never got the best of him; many times he literally laughed in the face of death and lady luck kept him from going to the realm of passed elves.

I carried this character's persona to a few MMORPG's like UO and Everquest. I've stuck with the name since I love the sound of it and since a couple of people know me by this name only.

My favorite character however is my current one.
His name is Relkin Silverwood and he is a human sorcerer 14/ archmage 1 AL: CG. He is a learned sorcerer born and raised in the city of Silverymoon. He is a worshipper of Mystra and as such will only cast his spells when necessary. He is mostly an evoker with a multitude of utility spells. His knowlege of spells would allow him to be extremely self-sufficient; though his ties to his group are extremely strong. He recently met Mystra who opened his mind and allowed him to refine and harness his power to a greater extent (meta - allowing him to become and archmage); though she commanded him to give back to Silverymoon and to train more sorcerers.

What makes him so much fun is the fact that he holds back until the situation requires him to intervene. Though he knows spells such as fireball he also knows lesser sonic orb and sonic orb and has the ability to convert sonic energy into subdual energy. He often unleashes his destructive forces only to knock the enemy unconscious. He once stopped an entire village from entering a battle that would surely kill them by knocking them all unconscious. He is also the first character I've ever played who has a high CHA (remember how much CHA was a dump stat in 2e, even though it is still a dump stat in 3e).

Our group has been through some extremely thick times, moreso than any other group I've played in. I doubt I'll ever play another masterblaster again because none of them could touch this character.

-Telor (part of me would love to change my online name to Relkin)

I have two favorites that are related. The first was a gnome wiz5/elemenatal savant 10 named Mardak Shortcloak. He was an instructor at the college in silverymoon and lived in a cool house in a gigantic tree. (I was an air elemental savant so I could fly :D). The other character was a two-bladed sword weilding human fighter 11 named Gaido Morai, who was actually 85 but was polymorphed by Mardak back into his 25 year old body. They had always been good friends and Mardak didn't want to see Gaido go when he still had many years to live. This worked out really well because it tied our two campaigns together and made for some really interesting happenings.

Sir Vek Mormont in Doc Midnight's extinct campaign (Even if I am doc's least favorite!) ;p

I loved trouncing Dartan's daddy like Dartan defeated my ancestor Clegar Mormont!

Must.... hold.... back.... ;)

Actually Orco weilds dual scimitars too. But that was back in 2e when it was broken. If I were to make him now I would just go for a greatsword.

Billiarmus- Don't worry I am a powergamer/munchkin/roll-player too and I don't get too much grief.

Favorite PC?

Without a doubt, I'd have to say Omen Ironbender (over 6 years ago, back in 2nd Ed days).

Omen was - in some people's opinion - a complete waste of space. He was awful in a fight (but what 2nd Ed thief wasn't at a disadvantage in a straight up fight without 2 weapon fighting and a major dex?), had a yellow streak that could've taken up 2 backs, and was a sneaky and conniving little cuss of a dwarf.

Numerous times he managed to put the entire group in great danger (Paladin pointing at a newly aquired map of the underdark, directly at "To the Dragon":What does this say again? Omen:Um, it says "to the Glass Pool" - yeah that's it).

Yet, when the chips were down, he braved a dragon's wrath to allow the rest of the party to escape.

You know, he's still out there, somewhere in the Underdark (don't you hate prematurely dead campaigns?). Maybe I'll update him sometime just for old time's sake.

Grokky Gumblegut

In a 2e campaign of nearly-all-dwarven heroes, Grokky was the cook.

My attributes were not really high enough (excpet a whopping 17 con) to stack up to the "heroic" aspects of adventuring. Instead, Grokky was the cook (and tank). He was fat, always compained about his corns, the heat, or the fact that he was incapable of doing anything. I carried a big sack (initially because I couldn't afford a backpack, later on as a badge of honor) with all my stuff in it.

The best thing about Grokky is that he was the "team" focal point in battle.

We put ourselves on the map. Grokky never moved, maybe just rotated on his left foot. The battle-rager and crossbow guys would run around. Me, nah. I'd hurl stuff at folks in range or swat them with my pick, but in general I never moved. Ever. The perfect dwarven defender in 3e, but in 2e I was just a "stationary target".

God I loved that character. I still have the miniature I used for him - dwarf in full spikey plate with a big shield that said "Kiss da cook" on it.

My favorite character, and namesake, is a half-elven rogue. He is part of a team with a deceptively strong, loud-mouthed swashbuckler who fancies himself a ladies man and a master of disguise. Together they strive to defend the weak, walk the fine line between being upstanding citizens and fugitives of the law, and make a little cash on the side.

In his first adventure, Maraxle came across an old man being bullied by several low-level thugs. After trying to reason with them (though he's low on charisma, so it wasn't too successful), he turned and started to walk away. Then his now infamous temper kicked in and he whirled around and stuck a dagger in the kidney of the lead thug. The other thugs didn't take too kindly to this and started to come after him. The only person brave (stupid?) enough to come to the aid the outmatched little rogue was the forementioned swashbuckler. Since then they have been getting themselves into and out of (mostly into) interesting situations with a combination of wits, flare, and the occasional kick to the teeth.

My current favorite? That'd have to be Mirk.

Mirk (Short for Merciful) Gilliwum, a half-orc barbarian/rogue. Left out to die in the wilderness and raised by a village of halflings. He tried to be a scout to follow in his folks' footsteps, but slowly he's had to admit that the barbarian part of him isn't evil or bad.

He's got high wisdom and intelligence, but talks with a deliberately dumb voice because people expect it. ("Um... Mirk not do disarming traps. It not really Mirk's thing ...") He also likes to see himself as the lonely defender of the helpless, and often sings poorly reworked versions of Eagles songs to himself. ("Mirk-a-RAH-do, why not me come to me senses, been out hitting fences, doom dee doom...")

The part about him that I have the most fun with is that he's not really a combat-heavy guy. He can DO it, but by profession, he's a boxer. Ambi, 2-weaponing, Improved Unarmed Strike, Stunning Fist, and Extra Stunning. His general strategy in a boxing match is to stun with the first hit, allowing his second and off-hand hits to benefit from sneak attack damage. If Mirk can convince somebody to settle a dispute with a boxing match, he's the happiest guy on earth.

So he ends up being a great guy to roleplay, and useful to the party as a scout, archer, and occasionally as a boxer. :)
