Favorite D&D Deity?

Garl Glittergold has always been my favorite. He's lighthearted and has a great personality, his protection/community/good domains gives his clerics reason to involve themselves in adventures, and his craft/gemcutting/smithing domains gives his clerics interesting non-combat options to focus on.

I love the kuo-toans' Blibdoolpoolp because it's so fun to say. Plus her goofy description (A 20 foot tall nude woman with a lobster's head and claws whose gaze causes insanity.) always makes me chuckle.

I tend to go for the lawful knight style gods like Heironeous. My first cleric was a cleric of Heironeous. In Forgotten Realms I was a Helm fangirl and was quite angry when they killed him off. In Kingdoms of Kalamar my favorite is the Knight of the Gods.

For evil I really like Hextor. I have an entire country that worship him in my home brew. It is one of the most crime free lawful places that you can live the average person is quite safe. Of course there is little freedom and the smallest infraction is severely punished.

For myself, it would be one that Gary created for Greyhawk and that had appeared in Dragon. Which one? I am not sure. I am not a fan of the Suel deities or the various official pantheons that appeared in later editions.

Fahrlanghn appeals to me, because his worship is so easy to integrate into a campaign (with travellers and dungeouneers).

I've also always liked Gruumsh: the story of his rivalry with Corellon is enough to fuel any campaign world's geo-politics.
