D&D General Favorite Forgotten Realms products of all time?

I haven't had the chance to get the 2 new FR books, but for my money's worth, the 3e Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting is phenomenal. I'm not a D&D historian, but the Character Regions table (on pages 30-32, for those who want to follow along at home) is the first time I recall seeing anything similar to 5e's backgrounds. Depending on what region you're from (or what race you are) it gives you an automatic language, bonus languages, a regional feat, and bonus equipment. It's not a perfect 1:1 comparison to backgrounds, but it definitely shows the seeds that were sown and eventually reaped in 5e.

Players guide to Faerun had regional feats. Iirc you could only pick them level 1.

I’m gonna go with this boxed set. Also cuz I’m biased since one copy is signed and the other is still in shrink wrap lol 😉

This.

Conceptually this was kind of an origin or background although 2E had an optional skill/background as well.
I’m still not sure why you mentioned the Player’s Guide to Faerun in your reply to my post, since the 3e Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting predates it by 4 years (2000 vs. 2004).

You mentioned something about the first time you saw something like 5E origins feats.

FR players guide went a bit further than FRCS.

There's all sorts of stuff people want or think is great and its buried in 2E and 3E books.

Theres a reason some of us liked 3E or whatever despite the online forum narrative here lol.
