Must have been all the magic missles and fire balls while playing the old Gold Box games...

I voted Enchantment...it seems a great deal easier for the rest of the party to kill something if it is asleep.

The one that can manipulate life; Necromancy.

From a mechanic viewpoint: Transmutation. So much useful stuff! (Fly for Pete's sake!).

But from a flavorfluff viewpoint, I like conjuration so much that I had a character whose magic always took the form of a "summoned" creature. Magic missle appeared as glittering blue elven archers, and Leomund's Tiny Hut was constructed by an army of quickhanded, magic gnomes.

I love Enchantment and Telepathy for psions, but I gotta say I spend most of my spell slots on transmutation spells (with conjuration a close runner up).

Evocation is upstaged by Conjuration now since Complete Arcane. Why take that school anymore?

I like enchantment and evocation, but if I had to pick one, it would be transmutation. Its the largest school and has a lot of versatility.
