Favorite System that Never Caught On

D20 Modern! - I love the idea of intermediate classes (i.e. Advanced classes) between 1st level characters and focused prestige classes. Now if only it was redone with what we've learned akin to the transition from AD&D 2nd edition to 3rd edition D&D. Because attribute based generic classes are stupid (e.g. Strong, Fast, &c) I wish we'd see a major revision to D20. With that in mind I'd really enjoy 4th edition D&D if it were a blend of D20  v.3.5 and Modern.

Other, lesser systems that didn't catch on: Amber Diceless Roleplaying, Shadowrun, Robotech (by Palladium), Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, and Purgatory. :uhoh:

TORG - Which we played extensively when it was released, but interest dwindled

Brave New World - Never could convince anyone to try, but I really liked alot of the ideas presented. PErhaps someday I could use Mutants and Masterminds rules and just scavange setting information from all of those BNW books

Earthdawn was sweet. Nice and simple, yet thorough, and every character had access to magic in one form or another. It was one of the only games during the D&D heyday for our group everyone caught onto and asked for more.

I havent seen anyone playing Shadowrun in ages. Does that count as a game that never caught on?

Assuming you're not joking here, I certainly wouldn't call it a game that didn't catch on. The fourth edition was released last year. Behind D&D and White Wolf, it's probably one of the most active franchises out there.
