Favorite System that Never Caught On

Alterntiy, hands down. I think the system designed for Alternity is one of the best ever. Simple, straightforward, and a blend of profession and level based experience with character points. I liked it.

It's dice mechanic at the core of the system wasn't simple and seemed like just and excuse to use all the polyhedral dice available. I will give you that it's combination of character points but with a level was good design however.

By any chance has anyone reviewed the re-recent re-release of the Torg rules? I'm itching to pull the trigger and see what WEG improved, but I don't like buying blind.
The revised edition isn't all that different, since one of the primary design restrictions on Kansas Jim was that it should still be compatible with all the stuff for original TORG. It's mostly a matter of incorporating stuff from various sourcebooks. The biggest difference I can recall is that they've exchanged the "stymied" and "unskilled" results on the interaction charts, since unskilled is usually a bigger penalty than losing your next reroll. There is also some polishing here and there.

The big differences will be seen in TORG 2.0, if it ever comes out.

The Marvel Universe RPG (2003).

The rules were presented poorly, and required definite patching---but no other game has ever *clicked* for me as much as the MURPG.

Additionally, I believe it is the perfect PBP/PBeM system; if only someone else in the world actually played it.

Can I cast an anti-vote for Masterbook? While it had some interesting concepts (Masterdeck, FX creation), I found the whole thing to be poorly done, and the bonus system was atrocious. Quite an oddity coming from the makers of Torg & D6 Star Wars...

@Dannyalcatraz: Underground was an amazing setting, but I never liked the system itself. Truth be told, I don't even remember the system, seeing as I lost my copy 6 or 7 years ago. :(

[sblock=@ BullMarkOne, Jyrdan Fairblade, Sleepy Voiced] I'm currently trying to get a D6 SW game going. If you're interested, check here.

I forgot about that one, yeah that really was a good game,

I know a group near me that play it...

Thanks for that. I, too, await Torg 2.0 though, like you, I'm not about to begin holding my breath over it.

I was serious, I havent seen anyone playing it in years. I would love to find a shadowrun game again. Ill have to go the local gaming store and post on the message board...

Check out dumpshock.com and its forums -- pretty much the ENW of Shadowrun.
