Feat and bonus Domain?

hmmm - there are several PrC that grant some bonus domains.

I don't personally think this is a good Idea - because it is the deity that decides what domain the clerics can get. Some of the domain powers are NOT intended to be combined - as it could get messy.

I think that would be a bad idea, having a feat that grants an extra domain.

Even if you restrict the Cleric to the domains normally available from his/her patron, many domains grant access to feats. For instance;

Undead domain grants the Extra Turning feat.
Craft domain grants Skill Focus (Craft)
Domination Prestige domain (DotF) grants Spell Focus (Enchantment)
Drow domain grants Lightning Reflexes
Dwarf domain grants Great Fortitude
Elf domain grants Point Blank Shot
Metal grants a Martial or Exotic Weapon Proficiency, of your choice

So the player would end up gaining stuff he could purchase with an ordinary feat PLUS the extra ability to use the domain spells. IMHO, clerics already have it too good.

I agree that it is a bad idea. Granting extra domains is something that's best left to Prestige Classes.

The Net Book of Feats has the Extra Domain feat. It isn't overpowered, not that much at all. First, your God has to have that Domain (you choose from the remaining ones for your God), so in my home game, my Cleric of Mayaheine with Good and War domains, has the choice to add either Law or Protection. Whoopty-do. Those domain powers and most of the spells suck. I see it in most gods the same way, until you get into the FRCS, but then again, that whole book is made to be powerful, so what's the problem? Why is everyone always trying to limit their players?

I was thinking on the lines as Bobbystopholes.

Only from your gods domains.

Another idea for a feat would be to give the cleric another spell slot for there domain spells. Allowing them to mem both domain spells.

Im looking for Feats for clerics that is not just Turn Undead based.

DotF was a joke for anything that was not a Chruch Cleric.

So far I have seen nothing that looks at Shamen/ Barbaian Preistly type characters. You now the primitive type religions.

And please dont say Druid. Thats not a Shamen.

Granting an additional domain as a Feat is not a bad idea. It would have to be from their god's list of domains. Also, it would need to have an additional prerequisite. I'd add in Wis 17+ and Cleric level 6 personally. Neither of those restrictions is that bad for a cleric to get. Also, the feat does not grant any more domain spell slots. You are still limited in that regard.

And this should be House Rules I do believe. :D

It might be house rules, unless you go by the Net Book of Feats ;)

There are no pre-reqs to their feat, from what I can remember. It just had to be from your gods domains. Not prestige, either. No extra slots, nothing. If you want that extra slot, there is a feat right out of Tome and Blood, Extra Slot or Extra Spell or whatever. It has no pre-reqs either. It definitely isn't overpowered.

Why not use the Adept or Witch classes from the DMG to represent Shaman type characters?
