FEAT - Attack Bonus

I suppose youre right, but I just can't stop thinking about these things:

Improved Charge
You have a degree of accuracy unmatched by your peers.
Pre-reqs: Power Attack, Expertise, and BAB 4+
Benefit: You gain a +4 bonus when charging on your first attack, this overlaps (does not stack with) the regular charge bonus. You still hae a -2 AC until your next initiative.

This gives a improved chance of charging, but is not nencesarily a feat "Everyone" will take. It works with all attacks and all weapons.

Now, this one I like! The only thing I'd change is that I don't really see why expertise is a prereq. Also, when you charge you only get one attack, so I'd take out the "on your first attack" bit.

In contrast, my other feat (see above) only gave a +1 bonus to hit, and only if you hit with your last attack. This traslates into a possible +1 attack with all your attacks, or more likely, +1 on your first and second attack only. The fact that it is "always" on, despite what weapon you are using, does not in my opinion make it superior to weapon focus. For a fighter, he needs weapon focus for spec, and this feat is not a requirement for any prestige class. For a non-fighter, well, I can see a monk with it, but even there I don't feel its "broke" as the blanket +1 attack bonus feat was. I am pretty sure there is a feat like this in the Oriental Handbook.

Well, I agree that it's not as broken as the attack bonus feat, but I still think it's a little much. It might not always give a +1 on all your attacks, but if you aren't getting a full attack in a round, it's the same effect. Also, a lot of tough monsters don't have ACs that are all that high; so with a good BAB you'll often hit every time. Think about it in the context of a two-weapon fighter and you'll see why I'm leery of it (speaking as someone whose main pc is a ranger/rogue but who thinks like a dm- heck, I'd take it for my guy in a second if the dm would allow it, and then I'd be unleashing four attacks per round with an extra +1 even though I use different weapons in each hand!)

Ok, the reason Improved Charge only applies to the first attack is because I was thinking of hasted fighters, doing a partial charge then a full attack, and giving +4 for the whole round would obviously be broken, all the fighters would just get boots of haste. I had intended for expertise to be a requirement to show the control necessary to increase your odds of hitting while charging. I'd be open to other suggestions for the pre-req though.

As for the other feat, I see what you are saying, but does your ranger/rogue have the feat requirement to take it? Perhaps it should have steeper requirements, but as I said since it doesn't actually contribute to anything (as far as prcs and feat chains), I don't see "everyone" taking it.

Ah, I see... Well, you could simply specify that the +4 only applies on the charge attack itself; that way the hasted fighter can still full attack but only gets the bonus on the partial charge.

As for a prereq, hmmm.... I see your point on Expertise, but I've always thought of it as more defensive than offensive. Maybe change it to, er, is it Power Lunge? The one in S&F; don't have my books right now...

Well, Dworkin (my ranger/rogue) has power attack, cleave, quickdraw, improved crit and weapon focus, plus twf and ambidexterity... so yeah, he could take it...

I see your point about chains and prcs, but all those nifty new feats end up incorporated into a prc's prereqs eventually. I know that a lot of the prcs I've designed use non-PH feats as requirements. I dunno... I just see a lot of potential abuse there. But YMMV. If you use it, let me know how it works out as far as balance goes.

Aha! So I guess you're asking about the feats I use as prereqs for prcs and stuff? (In my story hour.)

I'd have to have the love slave email me my prc's too to be specific, but I know some of them require feats from the various splatbooks, plus some of my custom feats; if you're interested I can have her email the whole feat doc to you as an attachment, and I have a phat doc of custom spells and prc's if you're interested in those, too.

Just let me know, and I'll let her know, and she can send 'em to you.

Yeah, feel free to email me that stuff, sorry for posting over there, guess I shoulda done it here. Anyway, if you have any advice and stuff like that I'm not sure where it would go, but I'd love to hear it. I'm so sick of games where you kill goblins, then some orcs, then an ogre, maybe a dragon, just the natural progression is so boring, I've done it video games enough, not to mention games I've been in.

I'm somewhat looking for some kind of game, but not sure if anyone is around the San Antonio area, probably need to post this somewhere else too. Ah well.

Thanks for the help!

Heh... I already responded to you over there too....

San Antonio, eh? I don't know if you're aware of this, but I'm travelling around right now (I got a "go anywhere in the US and Canada for 60 days" bus ticket), and I'm currently in Las Vegas. Maybe I'll try to drop in on you if you're amenable to the idea? I've been planning on meeting a few members of the community here while I'm at it, so lemme know what you think.

Also, I'll have the love slave email you the feats, spells and prcs.

Hey sounds cool. Only problem is I don't have a car, and my work schedule is pretty tough. However, email me the days you might be around and we'll try to work something out. I got those feats, prcs, and spells...wow thats a lot of stuff, practically its own sourcebook I'd say (and then some). I think I've seen that same feat doc somewhere else, I like a lot of them, good stuff to pump bards and some alternate fighter variations (pole-arm, single weapon style). Skimmed through the prcs, of course a few caught my eye ;)

Thanks for sending me that stuff, and I don't want to interrupt your other post, but thanks for the tips!
