Feat every level...

I also play in Crothian's group, as the wizard, and the feat every level thing has been great. Now I have a ton of options, and sacrfice is severely limited. No longer do I have to wait several levels to get a feat that I rarely use. It is nice being able to round out your character a little better. You can go after the feat that you know might only be handy once in a while and not worry that you sacrificed the great feat that you could have used all the time, because you get that one too.

If/when I DM again, I will most likely implement this rule.

Thanks for the replies. I've been in a low-magic campaign for years now and this rule might be just the thing to add a new level of fun to the game.

It should. With the vast amount of feats out there, only so many ever get used. THis allows players to take feats they want to with little risk. I'm going to try to convince a DM of another game to use it.

You shouldn't have too much of a problem–you've convinced me to propose this change in Pledge of Tyranny (currently I give feats at every even level). It's so good, I don't know why the designers didn't do it this way in the first place! Now I can get feats like Pyro :] without sacrificing something else really good or important to my character concept.

I saw that you give the extra feats to classed NPC's... but do you also give extra feats to regular-old monsters?

Everyone and everything gets extra feats. The table get extra sturdy, the fish get improved swqim, the ko0bold sorcerers get sudden meta magic feats, the oozes get disolve player character.....

Does this affect the "lure" of the human race? Obviously the big "selling" point of being human is you get a free feat and a few skill points. The skill points are good for skills monkeys, but beyond that its the feat that matters. A huge difference between a rogue with PBS and one with PBS and precise shot at first level (or rapid shot for that matter).

Now, I really can't think of a reason to go human (RP reasons aside).

In my group we have a half elf, a dwarf, two humans, and a half giant. Persoanlly, I don't think any of them cared to much about the mechanic advantage of a race. But mechancally that extra feat is going to be a big deal still. Feats are a big deal and with the vast amount of feats I allow there are still more then what people can take.
