Feats and +1 spellcaster level

So now we compare the EK to the Wizard.
After 10 levels of the class, the difference:
EK: +10 HP, +1 Feat, +5 BAB
Wizard: +1 spellcasting level, +2 Feats
Are you actually concluding that ONE spellcaster level is equal to 10 HP's and +5 BAB?
(I'm neglecting the 2 metamagic feats, since the 1 fighter feat is almost comparable)

What about this one:

Caster Level Boost [General]
Source: This one’s entirely my own.
Benefit: Your caster level gains a +2 bonus. This bonus only applies for the purposes of determining the effects of spells and special abilities; for example, it does not affect spells per day, item creation feats, etc. This bonus can never cause your caster level to exceed your character level, after all other modifiers are applied.
Special: You can gain this feat multiple times.

Isn't that almost exactly the same as what I posted above?

As I said in the earlier post, if Wizard and Fighter are balanced, then 2 spellcasting levels equals 6 HP, +1 BAB, and 1 free Feat.

6 HP is better than one Feat. See also: Toughness. Let's say this is worth 1.5 Feats.
+1 BAB is better than one Feat, since it works on every weapon and gives iterative attacks. See also: Weapon Focus. Let's say this is worth 2 Feats.

Therefore, 2 spellcasting levels must balance with something like 4 or 5 Feat-equivalents. So far so good?

So, would it be balanced to let a Wizard (with their lack of armor and lousy HP/BAB) spend two or three general Feats to get +10 HP and +5 BAB? It's a bit strong, but realize that it's a Prestige Class, with prerequisites that required you to make a suboptimal class combination. You had to give up two levels of spellcasting, after all.

6 hipoints is not worth more than one feat. Toughness is crap, we all know that. If toughness gave 6 hitpoints, it would still be crap. Unless toughness was set to a ridiculously high number, it'll always be crap if it remains static.

Now as for all this feat vs. spellcasting level bull. You cannot directly compare the two. Some feats are more powerful than others, and some spellcasting levels are more powerful than others. 1st and 2nd level wizard spellcasting levels are certainly not worth 4-5 feats, otherwise every fighter known to man would take two (or more!) levels of wizard. Most don't.

However, 17th and 18th wizard spellcasting levels are probably worth 4 or 5 feats, but it's irrelevant, because you can't just do that.

You're comparing apples and oranges. I'd never allow a feat that actually gave one or more spellcasting levels, regardless of prerequisites. +1 to effective caster level? Sure, but you certainly would never be able to take it more than once, and your caster level would have to be lower than your character level.

People keep saying EK is overpowered but it's not. You give up two spellcasting levels to get it, and if that's all you give up, you are going to a mere +15 BAB at 20th level. Congratulations, your BAB is the same as a cleric's, except clerics *don't* lose two caster levels for it and *don't* give up class features for it, and *can* wear armor.

So why is EK broken again?

Er...oops. Sorry, Whydirt; I missed your post. (In all honesty, I skipped the whole thread after it looked like it had devolved into yet another apples-and-oranges Fighter vs Wizard comparison.) Sorry about that; if I had seen your feat, I wouldn't have bothered posting mine. : )
