For thread starters the ability to moderate their own threads. Delete antagonistic or off-topic posts, bar hostile or problematic posters from the thread. All this subject to over ruling by forum moderators and admin. At least be able to delete post that do nothing to advance the conversation.

Host your own subforum on the site. Mine is a closed resource for my gaming group, but there is no reason why you couldn't leave yours open to the general public and moderate as necessary.

Not everybody wants their own sub-forum on ENWorld. Besides, I've seen too many threads degenerate into the nasty, inconsequential, and/or utterly irrelevant.

True, threads can degenerate. But I do the same thing with those threads that I do at a party. I walk away. Even if I started the conversation, when it loses my interest it is time to join a new conversation.

I prefer not to see a thread deteriorate in the first place. Would save me time and aggravation.

Then again, I could be an overbearing, obsessive control freak. :D

Sorry, mythusmage, that's not something that will ever happen. Far, far, far too open to abuse.

I don't like the idea of the thread originator being able to ask for the thread to be closed. Once you invite public comment the thread is no longer yours. I dang sure don't want someone who believes they have a vested interest in the topic to be able to moderate my or other folks posts.

In other words, what you see as disruptive behavior I may see as constructive critism or polite disagreement. I shudder at the thought.

I can't imagine this not causing way more issues than it resolves. Who is to say what a questionable post really is? Is it because they don't agree with you? I would think there would soon be complaints of so and so moderates me anytime I post to his or her thread. In addition it would put the moderators in much more of a public stage when determining whether the original moderation by the thread originator was warranted or not.
