Feint and Spring attack

Thanks that is what I needed, will try to get a copy of the PHB before next session. I always assumed that it was not necessary because of the SRD(prefer spending on other books). guess I was wrong.

You weren't entirely wrong. Yes, some minor stuff is missing, but the description Hyp posted is in the CombatI.rtf file, under Standard Actions, paragraph Shooting or Throwing in Melee.

Windows Explorer Search is your friend :).

I agree - keep the innovative ideas coming. It's your game, after all, and it's fun to come up with new rules or variants of existing rules.

The thing is, this is the Rules forum and you asked a rules question. Hypersmurf and others here respond to rules questions with literal rules answers. Your wife's use of Spring Attack and Bluff is neat, but it's against the literal rules and the folks on this forum are here to tell you that. :)

Yes I know, but I was wondering were it was explicitely stated that you could not. That is why I posted here. My feeling was that you could not but I couldn't find any reference. As for the house rule I will handle that

Thanks everybody

"The reason I am asking is the rogue is my wife and thing can get a bit nasty."

Just say yes dear. then after you have had your night of passion say sorry I just read this ;)

I'm wondering, could you do this:

A) Be in melee with someone.
B) Improved Feint
C) 5' Step Back
D) Free action, drop melee weapon.
E) Free action, Quickdraw Bow
F) Attack from 5' away, but get the benefits of Feint that you executed while in melee?

Does it actually say so in the PHB that you have to be in melee to feint?
Because I think that DarkMaster's wife is right that the SRD doesn't say so.

Yes, it is in the BOTH the SRD and PHB.

From the SRD (Bkuff Skill)

Feinting in Combat: You can also use Bluff to mislead an opponent in melee combat (so that it can’t dodge your next attack effectively).

With Improved Feint (which change feinting to a move action instead of a standard action), then, questionably, yes.

I'd rule that once to get out of melee combat the feint you made is no longer effective, which makes sense.

Well now YOU are overreacting ;) it applies to your next melee attack only.

Ah, that my significant other was able to -argue- D&D rules with me, instead of accept what I say and the basics of the rules. She's getting there, mind you, but I relish that day when she'll whip out some dastardly combo and all I can do is sit there with a blank look on my face as the BBEG falls.
