Female DM's

I remember once where Kriskrafts got saddled with a sexist player for an RPGA game who was condescending to her the entire game. When we did scoring for that game (6 categories scored 1 to 5, 5 being the highest) she received 3 perfect scores (30) two near-perfect scores (29) and straight 1's from that player.

The world is full of idiots and prejudice. Can't really do much about it. :(

And there's no such thing as "Too damned Scottish!"
Hey, I didn't come up with the custom title, Piratecat gave it to me. But since he's know me for well over a decade I figure it's probably accurate. Not sure if it's actually a reference to the fact that I've been involved with Scottish historical reenactment or due to my being rather frugal (probably both). End of thread hijack...back to the topic at hand.

Back in the mid-1980's Kriskrafts and her friend Ruthe (my first DM) used to enjoy going to gaming conventions where they would be just about the only females there. They took great pleasure in going attired in dresses, make-up and jewelry and then going to games accompanied by male friends, where it was assumed they were just tag along girlfriends. They would be quiet and uninvolved for the first half hour, then drop the act and totally blow away the DM and other players with exceptional play. It was great fun to watch.

Not so! We could assume that all people of certain physiognomic characteristics were prejudiced, and drive them into Reeducation Camps!

Oh, and, Jezter?
"It's true, you don't see many female DMs. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance that they're often mistaken for male DMs."

You know how they say 'side-splitting laughter'? Turns out it isn't a metaphor. I just re-pulled one of the muscles down my flank that got strained at the gym a couple of days ago.

You'll be getting my doctor's bill, yew barsatrd :)

I've known about a dozen female gamers over the years (I see lots at Cons, but you can never tell how many are "tag alongs"...), but only one I know has tried to GM. To be honest, I don't know what scares me most: Her liberal use of Vile Darkness, her liberal use of Erotic Fantasy, or the encounters that use both.

Oh, sounds like you have met someone similar to me. :)

Oh, well, I am often very nice GM too, such material is not good with all groups.

I know that when I'm playing the scariest thing for the female GMs seems to be when I don't get scared at such shock tactics, but instead embrace them wholeheartedly. I think that's when they realize how much I really, really hold back when GMing. ;)

You can, if you're careful to line up an alibi beforehand.

Great cake! Now I have to top it for Daulnay's birthday...

Oh, and on shocking the players--most of mine are pretty shockproof, but then, when you're running CoC you just don't want to mix in things like BoEF. Not if there are snacks present.
