I really think duelist should replace ambidex with the feat that lets you fight after 0 hp.

"HELLO! My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." "STOP SAYING THAT!"

Inigo wasn't below 0 hp. If he was, he would have been losing 1 hp every round he made an action, and dropped dead after a minute. In fact, notice how in the scenes after killing Rugen, he doesn't even seem to be slowed down at all. _This_ is what hp is all about -- cinematic action, where flesh wounds have no serious effect on your skills or abilities.

If you _want_ to emulate that particular scene where Inigo gets hit and is momentarily stunned, you could say that he was in something like a barbarian rage, which wore off just as he entered the room. Now it's true that rage as a class ability isn't something that's usually available to swashbucklers, but since this is the House Rules board, you could always change that. ;)

I think he was talking about a feat similar to the "Ferocity" ability of boars...

Ferocity (Ex): A boar is such a tenacious combatant that it continues to fight without penalty even while disabled or dying.

The pertinent feat is "Remain Conscious" (I like how "Ferocity" sounds better, though, don't you?) from Sword & Fist...

Remain Conscious [General]
Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +2, Endurance, Iron Will, Toughness
Description: You have a tenacity of will that supports you even when things look bleak.

That would emulate Inigo's condition pretty well, don't you think?

Even better if you are using VP/WP rules... Count Rugen catches Inigo off-guard (flatfooted) and makes a critical hit with a Sneak Attack. Inigo takes Wound damage, barely makes his Fort Save to stay conscious, and now has to fight "fatigued" state (-2 str & dex, cannot run or charge).

But that's beside the point.

Yes and no.

All Remain Conscious does is allow you to continue making partial actions as your hp goes negative. It doesn't negate losing 1 hp each round that you're disabled or dying. You can stabilise yourself, which removes the hp loss, but as soon as you do anything, the stabilisation is negated.

See the feat description in S&F, or OA.

You could do that too. ;) This is House Rules, after all. Note that coming out of a rage, as per my suggestion, also results in being fatigued.

I don't really have either book, i just looked it up on the list (folloe the link above) at the Wizards' site.

But like I said... I like the sound of Ferocity better. Sure you still have to stabilize, but you continue to fight on unpenalized until you die.
