"OK," Lasair knows for certain that it will be impossible to trace the equipment back through the purchase to the money's original owner, particularly if Phineas bought the goods legitimately as she expected. Perhaps her more mercenary comrades will be appeased with the gear, "You still haven't told me your name though. I would like to know. I told you mine's Lasair. Do you have any family around here?"

Elise listens for a bit, then walks off. She lightly search of the area the bandits were standing and then gives a long gaze up and down stream.

Did they walk to this point? Surely they had mounts or packs or rations Wonders Elise out loud

"I'm John. We're all from Orussus."

Elise hears this, and it occurs to her that if they followed the river, they could make it to Orussus fairly easily in less than a day. She also spies a backpack set in the bushes with a few rations in it.

"I know you won't do it again--because now we will be able to find you if you ever do. Anyways, I'm just trying to be your friend...I figured with people like Phineus always bossing you around, maybe you could really use one...If you don't want to talk to me, I will stop..."

"Hmm...next time, why not sign up as a caravan guard? Basically the same risks--only the opposite since you will be fighting the bandits instead ofthe guards, and you will be helping people too. Anyways, I'll go talk to my comrades now."

*Lasair heads away and speaks with them quietly. Specifically, she walks far enough away and speaks quietly enough that he can't roll a 20 or something and hear it.*

"I talked to the one who's awake--his name is John. John is not really an evil person, just a bit greedy and cowardly at heart. He didn't want to actually hurt anyone and they were trying to make some quick cash without any fights. The money was stolen from caravans heading the same way we are, so we can easily return it when we get there. The gear was purchased by the ringleader, so it will be impossible to trace the purchase, and any of you who wish to take some sort of 'spoils' from this can definitely feel vindicated in taking whatever you need from among it--I would prefer to accept Ingus's offer to sell the gear at the festival and give us the proceeds. Anyways, I've used his cowardice against him by convincing him that I am watching him, and he appears to be too frightened to do any more ill after what he saw today, particularly without some strong personality egging him on and the fear of my powers...I think that since he hasn't harmed anyone and we can return what he has stolen, we should let him go."

Fang listened intently, but was totally confused by the idea of giving the money back.

Finally Fang had heard enough. "'Ow yue know bandit John is nit evil? Fang tink evil action is evil person. Nit wanna hurt us is pure bullox. He'ad weapon in hand, yes? What'ee use it fer? Scratchin an itch?"

"Fang'ave better idea. Take bandit John and 'is bleedin bandit friends and give'em to caravan peoples. Make'em work off der debt, an mayhaps learn deh error'o der ways. John nit need a sof'heart. He need a wee bit a tuff love."
