Elise and Lasair

Perhaps we should just ask if the merchants crossed the river and then go from there.

The merchant mentions a few prices, and 10 gold for the earings.

You do know that some of the merchants did cross the river. And a few of them described Phineus correctly. Some wrote it off and aren't worried about it, and the few others don't seem to get the numbers to add up, but you've only covered the top half. However, between the two of you, you're sure most of the merchants are exadgerating.

(OOC: What are the numbers Lasair is getting from the caravaners compared to the gold we found? Also, over how many caravans is this spread. Lasair has a plan to get the money to the right people, but it requires enough info to set it up correctly)

OOC: Most are giving you 300, 200, 750 if they give you numbers. I'll make a few specific rolls to give you numbers of people you and Elise feel are honest and you can try from there, but those are few and far between.

(OOC: Oops, when I meant the numbers adding up, I didn't mean I asked the merchants how much they paid, but I realise I was too ambiguous. Lasair assumes that Phineus charged everyone the same price he charged our caravan, so she multiplies that price by the number of caravans who claim to have paid to see if it matches up. If not, she's going to do a Solomon strategy.)

To Sunny

"Well, I can't say I really object too strongly to you assertions...I'm not entirely sure that I have travelled the world over, but then I'm not sure I haven't, either. As for accompanying you, it would be my pleasure."

Sunny puffs out his chest, turns his arm into a chicken wing, and waits for fair Daphnie to thread the needle with her own arm. Then, red-faced with pride and evidently quite pleased with his 'conquest', Sunny sets off, allowing Daphnie to lead the way.

Daphnie smiles and tugs you allong proudly. She makes sure she parades you in front of a couple of her friends. "Ooh, what's that music?" She says as she tugs you towards the western fields.

In a clearing near the entrance to the western fields, there is a small Freefolk band playing a playfull tune, while two men and two women dance a lively dance. A box near the crowd occasionaly gets a pling as a coin is tossed in. She smiles and leans on you a bit as she listens to the music. When the song is over, she says to you "What else is there to see here? "

OOC: Do you know how much he was charging? I do, but I don't count ;)

The one standing on the road steps forward to greet you. "Greetings, travelers. I am Phineus P. Pimpernel, owner of this fine bridge. Unfortunately, It has had to undergo some recient repairs, and I need help paying back the craftsmen. For a mear 5 gold per person, I will let you pass on my fine bridge. For your carts, I require a bit more, say, 20 gold. I'll even be nice and not charge you for your horses. So, by my count that brings your total to...hmmm... say 105 gold. You know, I'm feeling generous today, how 'bout we make it 100?"

(OOC: So approximately 20 per cart and 5 per person.)

Fang & Oirhander

It would be nice to find what he was looking for right here in the north field, allowing for the rest of the day to be spent just enjoying the festival. Oirhandir hoped the odd little man had what he wanted.

"Well, I hope that you can", the elf replied. "I'm looking for magical containers, the sort where you can fit more in the inside than it would seem possible from the outside. Would you have something like that for sale?" Oirhandir deftly and discreetly jingled the little pouch of gold that Ingus had given him, trying to get the man to notice without advertising his fortune to every passing pickpocket. Ingus's gold wouldn't be enough to get what he wanted by itself, but he did have Rupert's letter and hoped a down payment would establish him as a serious customer.

"Oh, and I hope I'm not being too forward", he added, "but I enjoy meeting the other travelers here, and wonder what you might have seen on your journeys. I'd be glad to tell you my tale and favor you with some music if you'd tell me yours."

"Well good sir, I have several bags that can hold nearly 15 times their weight that I have out at the moment, as well as one magical haversack left that is light and has plenty of storage. I have more, but, as is tradition, I'm waiting till the festival starts tomorow to bring out my finest wares."

"As for my tale, I've been this way for a long time. I wandered out of my homeland several years ago looking to explore, and found myself making a living at trading. Since then, I've learned to make fine bags of storage and have been a traveling merchant. You can learn a lot by what people like to use to store things. Like, for example, I'll bet you travel a lot and like to pick up little trinkets to carry around, but are afraid that they will weigh you down."

Soon as he mentions the earrings Elise explodes almost comicly TEN GOLD, THAT ROBBERY! Why I'd only be willing to part with six. She is still trying to barter efficiently, even if failing somewhat

"I don't think I could part with it for that. They are rare gems given to me by a dwarven wizard, and I myself have not seen their like. But, I see they go with your outfit, and they would look good on you. I could probably cut you a deal for 9 gold."
