Festival of Halina (Orsal Judging)

OOC:Chalk it up to Oirhandir's personality. He just likes to do everything himself.

Oirhandir returned the wave, and after a few moments spent exchanging pleasantries, got down to business.

"Ingus", he began, "I think I've found what I need, but most of my money sits in a chest in Orussus. I need 1800 gold crowns to complete the purchase, and as you can see from that note I got from Mr. Vaneelkelen, I've got that and more waiting for me. Would it be possible for you to loan me the difference? I can work part of it off between now and the end of the festival, and pay you the rest as soon as we get to Orussus."
"Tell you what. I trust Joe, and have found no reason not to trust you. How about I simply pay off your share, and you sign the note over to me." Ingus does some quick math "Your share comes to 2210 gold if I'm not mistaken. That sound fair?"

"That sound fair?"
Oirhandir nodded. "That is quite fair, master Ingus. Your offer is generous and kind."

Oirhandir wasted no time penning a short addition to Rupert's letter, authorizing one Ingus Stonebender to take posession of his share of the proceeds of the expedition to the lair of the dragon in the swamp, which came to 2210 gold crowns and some change. Oirhandir knew Ingus must have some money on him, else he'd never be able to pay his escorts the total of 2400 gold for the round trip plus whatever they earned guarding his camp at the festival. But as casually as the dwarf was tossing around another 2000 gold and then some, Ingus's caravan must be a very tempting target, indeed. Oirhandir could now see the wisdom of spending what he originally had thought was an exorbitant sum just for caravan guards...with so much at stake, it made sense for Ingus to pay well for the best help he could find.

Oirhandir handed the note to Ingus.

Ingus heads back into his wagon. Shortly thereafter, he emerges with a bag of coins that he hands Oirhandir. "Here ya go. Will ease my mind a bit, with a bit less gold to carry back."

Daphnie smiles and tugs you allong proudly. She makes sure she parades you in front of a couple of her friends. "Ooh, what's that music?" She says as she tugs you towards the western fields.

In a clearing near the entrance to the western fields, there is a small Freefolk band playing a playfull tune, while two men and two women dance a lively dance. A box near the crowd occasionaly gets a pling as a coin is tossed in. She smiles and leans on you a bit as she listens to the music. When the song is over, she says to you "What else is there to see here? "

"Oh, I don't know. Rather, I do. Check this out -- "

Sunny prestidigitates a bear in his palm, which fights a zebra, who then merge and transform into a waving field of golden grain.

"I can do all sorts of tricks but, you know, it's quite loud around here. Hard to concentrate. Let's go to a more private area. I bet Ingus has a tent we can use. How about it? I could give you a really spectacular show, I promise..."

Sunny grins in a way that is both endearing and slightly creepy.

"Great bag" Fang said the Oirhandir. "Surein be useful fer yue out on deh road. Mayhaps I'd like to git meself a new sword. Any idear 'ow much dat cos? 'ow about lookin aroun wit me a bit?"

If Oirhandir agrees, Fang will go looking for greatswords.

Oirhandir had no objection to Fang's request. "I don't mind if you look around, but why don't you check with Ingus first?", suggested the elf. "He's got plenty of swords for sale. Maybe he has one you'll like. Hmm. Swords run anywhere from 10 gold pieces for one about as long as my forearm to 700 gold pieces for the finest two-bladed sword in the land. Unless you want a magical sword, those start at over 2000 gold and go up to, oh, half a king's ransom!"

Oirhandir hefted the heavy bag of gold in his hand. "I want to get to that little bag merchant before he changes his mind on the deal. You can come with me, or stay here and see what Ingus has. I'll be coming right back as soon as I get that haversack, so I won't be gone long."

The elf walked quickly to the cat-like merchant's stall, cradling the heavy bag in his arms. "It seems like we're both in luck", he called out. "I get my haversack, and you get plenty of money!" He eased the heavy bag onto the table, and with the merchant's help, started counting out the 1800 crowns that he owed him.

As they were counting, Oirhandir asked, "You know, I don't think I ever did find out where your homeland is, if you don't mind my asking. Oh, and my name's Oirhandir, some people know it in Orussus even if hardly anyone knows it in these parts."

After chatting with the man, the elf picked up his new prize, and made for Ingus's camp.

Fang & Oirhander

OOC: I'm assuming you're staying togeather :END OOC

"I come from the Kanatisis region far to the east, though I mostly wander around here now." He smiles as he takes the rest of the money and removes and releases the ropes from the haversack, handing it over. "I hope it suits your needs admirably Oirhander."

Fang has no trouble finding weapons of all shapes, sizes, materials, and quality. So just what is Fang looking for in a weapon?

Daphnie watches with interest, smiling at the strange display of magic you show her.

"Who's Ingus?" She asks. "My dad will be busy later, we can go back to my house, but why don't we look around the festival first. Maybe there's some neat jewelry around or something."

"Kanatisis, eh? I've never heard of it", remarked Oirhandir. "Perhaps one day I may be so fortunate as to wander there myself." The bard smiled at his new acquisition. "I'm sure it will do just fine. I thank you for your service, Mr....?" He paused, searching for a name he had never been told.

Oirhandir and Fang walked back to Ingus's camp, chatting about the merits of various types of swords as they went. Oirhandir gathered that Fang wanted another greatsword, but pointed out that the next step in quality from the blade he was carrying would set the orc back between 300 and 400 crowns. Oirhandir wanted nothing more than to go back to camp and transfer his worldly possessions from his old backpack and saddle bags into his new magical haversack. But once that was done, he indicated that he would be glad to help Fang shop for a new sword.

OOC:[sblock]Wow! After repacking, Oirhandir's load is reduced by about 30 lbs, and Hiriloce's by about 100. (Noted in Character Thread)[/sblock]
