Fey step out of glue bomb?

thundershot

Adventurer
I had some Kobolds tossing glueballs from slings at the PC's.

Then the next wave will hurl cages of scorpions (the ones in the Dragon article).

The Eladrin PC feystepped, and said that it left all the glue and bugs behind.

I said no, if the glue is left behind, then so would your clothing.

He then said that since the bugs are living creatures, and you can't teleport with another living creature, they wouldn't go with him.

I conceded, but it still didn't feel right....

What's the right answer here?

Thanks

Glue pots cause the condition immobilized, iirc.

Teleportation is allowed while immobilized.

You can teleport right out of the glue as I read it.

The scorpions... I need to read the description again. They cause ongoing damage?

I just reread the Vermin Handler stuff.

Technically it's an attack that has fluff that includes creatures, not a actual creature, but I get the point the PC is trying to make.

Fluff vs Crunch.

Leave the bugs 'n stuff behind when they teleport, but I'd still give 'em ongoing damage, but I might give 'em slowed (like the miss) instead of dazed (if they made a convincing and non-whiney argument).

See, the reason I said the glue stayed with him was that yes, he can telelport while immobilized. But wouldn't you still be immobilized when you finished the teleport? I guess it'd be different if it was vines coming out of the ground holding you....

So next time this happens (and I'm sure it will), I should just let him teleport out of the whole mess with little problem?

Thanks everyone
Chris

The description of the Immobilized condition says that if you're immobilized because of of a physical effect, like someone grabbing you, you won't be immobilized any longer. However, if it's due to an effect on your mind or body, you still will be.

The way I interpret that is that since the glue is external, you can teleport out of it. If it had been a matter of some sort of debilitating poison, it would stay with the character.

It's a per encounter power that lets him break a condition that they could save against 55% of the time. It's not a big deal imho.

You could also just attack again in the same encounter.
