My girlfriend's used Grey Mouser stuff, as well as basing a whole campaign on The Riddlemaster.

I tease her and call her lazy. :D

I mostly read a lot of non-fiction like history books and such (especially on the Celts and Saxons), but I'm just about finishing "Three Hearts and Three Lions" (1953) by Poul Anderson, an old classic. There's a lot of ideas in there that helped inspire Dungeons & Dragons that might be interesting to you.

Also, movies provide some great ideas. I recently saw "Pirates of the Caribbean" which was very cool. It's interesting because an adventure by Atlas Games called "Maiden Voyage" published a couple of years ago had a similar undead pirate thing going on. Good stuff.

There's one idea that really forms the spine of my campaign, but I won't tell you what it is just yet. It's from a book by a guy whose first name is Christopher, and that's as much of a clue as I'm going to give you, because once you've figured it out it changes everything and my webcomic becomes just an exercise in killing time. The rest is just medieval tropes dressed up in D&D terms (after all, it is medieval Europe). It's a good thing my chosen setting has more sourcebooks available than even the broadest World of Darkness line...:D
