Just for the record, I took a look at the 3E Zodar, and their STR is still 25.

But they can double it when they need to and get a 50... (runs to bathroom to grab Fiend Folio) thrice per day, for one round.

So, this mean that a Zodar with above average abilities (well, I know, they're supposed to be all similar, without variations) could get 32 Str, +5 for 20 levels of Barbarian, +6 from Greater Rage, +5 from inherent bonuses (wishes or tomes/manuals), +6 enhancement from item: Str 54; doubled to 108 for one round!
With a two-handed weapon, this means +73 points of damage! Yay!
But if you go psychic warrior rather than barbarian, you get access to truly asinine numbers with that power that allows you to trade power points for ability points for one round... Especially comboted with the weapon that gives you power points when you hit...
