Fighter or Samurai?

The old book misspelled it.
Yeah, I know (I lived in Japan and my wife is 1/2 Japanese), but I don't care. It'll always be "Kensai" to me. :p

If you want to be really correct about it, you should use
kensai.gif
, anyway.

Exactly. Bickering about the spelling of Japenese words is pretty futile. Whoever invented the word in the first place didn't use the Latin Alphabet, and probably doesn't care what the word looks like using those letters. He might care that there's several ways of writing it that all sound the same.

Let's just all say sword saint and be done with it. :p

Why? people are going to argue no matter.

You know what they say: "The only constant is people complaining and arguing".

Anyway, whoever wants to argue about the proper spelling has to accept that the proper spelling is
kensai.gif
:p

Nah. Just translate it in order to evade spelling wars. ;)
Sword Saint doesn't sound right in the Western world. It's too "holy."

Swordsage is more appropriate but that have already been taken (Tome of Battle: The Book of Nine Swords).

Fighter, going into a prestige class later. If you use Bo9S, I would still start as a fighter and multiclass, as many signature samuari abilities are better emulated as feats.
