Fighter/Psion

If you use a darkwood heavy shield, you suffer no armor check penalty. I suppose if you have your heart set on 2 levels of fighter, though, this isn't relevant.

You DM thinks Psionic Meditation is too good? That's amusing. If you can't get Psionic Meditation, I wouldn't take any feats that require you to expend your psionic focus at all. Consider multiple Expanded Knowledges, especially for the wonderful Astral Construct. You could also use EK to take Hustle as a level 2 power (PsyWar level 2) as opposed to level 3, gaining some of that extra movement you appear to be fond of.

I echo the advice of others who have suggested Improved Initiative as one of your fighter feats. I'd stick this guy in the heaviest armor you can afford. As a kineticist, he doesn't need to move much to be effective IMHO (Hustle works fine with heavy armor).

Other good kineticist/general psion powers include Crystal Shard (No save! No SR/PR! Scales like a champ!), Control Body (requires a fortitude save, so you use it to hold enemy casters still while your rogue buddy CDGs 'em), and Psionic Grease (just as versatile as the magical version). Also, consider Entangling Ectoplasm which entangles with no save and no SR/PR.

If you really want this guy to be a doctoring-type, though, I'd just play an Egoist.

John Q - He hates the idea of a Fighter getting beaten for 50 HP and then get healed for 50 HP in 1 round. So, only NPCs are Clerics (and there is like 3 of them in the area only). Thus, he is not allowing any "good" healing spells. All must be "natural".

Damn. You are really fighting an uphill battle here! My sympathy.

Singing Smurf - This DM also screamed bloody murder at the thought of the Mystic Theurge as being super-uber "WTF was WoTC THINKING????!!!!!" type of PrC. He also included the Soulknife's Mindblade into a person's equipment gold assignment at full current value.

In other words, he is an alarmist and seems very attached to this particular world he created.

I will certainly look into the powers you have listed.

Unless you have read the other thread, you don't even know half the story about pushing things uphill.

Thanks, guys, for your input. I have a lot to think about now, and I will certainly implement some of them, especially the feat changes.

I'm faintly surprised he's not restricting you all to commoners. With rusty daggers and soiled loincloths.

I'm with the others, forget expending your focus. Use a feat to learn astral construct. Granted a 3.5 astral construct is not a patch on what you could do in 3.0 with the mind's eye enhancments, but still the customizability make them very usefull.

In order to get 9th level powers at level 17, I have to put 15 into Int and every stat boost into it. So, I am stuck with my base stats for all other stats. I should have mentioned this. Sorry.

Actually, if you take 2 levels of Fighter, you will not be able to get 9th level powers until level 19. By then, you might as well wait until level 20 to boost your Int to 19. What's one level?

While I am on the subject of Fighters, why are you taking two levels of Fighter when you are playing a Doctor???

They seem like mutually exclusive goals. IMO.

Finally, your DM sounds like a moron to me. Again, IMO. He appears to have no concept of how laid up your group will be on a continuing basis, nor does he appear to understand that it is likely that he will TPK you guys sooner or later due to his crippling of the healing system.

C'est la guerre! :p

JDVN1 - Well, I rolled well on my HPs. I have 58 hps now, 70 if I switch my Wis and Con (14 and 12 respectively now). More when I take Psionic Body. I have free 1st level slots, so I can definitely take Vigor. I also Expanded Knowledge (Animal Affinity), so my physical stats are all up by 4 at will.
The more the merrier! Sounds good.

Why is Grease so versatile? I have never found any good use for it myself?

Grapples, etc.

Your DM seems to have a lot of restrictions. He's "okay" with you playing a doctor but won't let you use empathic transfer and the like?

Morinthiel - He took one look at Hostile Empathic Transfer and banned it outright. He does NOT want anything that has to do with healing. When I tried arguing by pointing out that the Bard and Ranger get Healing spells and I can really only use it 11 times a day AND cripple myself in the process (almost no PP left and can't fight worth nuts) AND it is self only, this is the response I got:

"Psions don't need healing. Its not a fundamental part of thier nature. So they don't have it in my world as of now. None of the three psions i have made had it anyway.
Rangers cast CLW as a level 2 spell!
Tina is a special case.
The fact you can only heal yourself makes it WORSE in some ways.
But as you have no idea what i am talking about, don't try to second guess what i am thinking and what i am 'forgetting' as i know the rules of the game and the intricacies/tactics far better than you do."

Tina is the Bard, FYI.

So, I guess the answer to your question is "yes, he won't allow it".

Oh! I never thought of that for Grease. I always thought it was floor only! Thanks. I will definitely have fun with it now. Especially since I have Matter Agitation. Heh heh heh!

JDVN1 - Sounds like I will need it too. By the way, the 12th level Ranger has 90+ HPs. With the changes, I will have about 86 base. More with Vigor. Not bad for a mage-type character.

KarinsDad - I don't like pure "self-taught" (Psions/Sorcerors in particular) classes as a personal preferrence. In medieval times, you start training for your job at 6-8 years old. That isn't old enough to fully control and/or manifest your latent powers yet. By the time you can (13-15-ish?), you'd have a lot of training in a "trained" class already. I usually take 1 level of a "trained" class to reflect this. I also usually choose Fighter because it is the most common "trained" class. This DM said either 2 or none. I know it weakens my character, but it is a matter of principle, so I took the level hits. Then, of course, came the barrage of neuterings. He has effectively banned something from every Psionic class.

*shrugs* I wish there was another group I can join but in Auckland, this is about it.

Control freak would be a more precise term for my DM. He wants to monitor everyone, and make sure that no one is too powerful. So, he goes around awarding the occasional feat or inherent bonus to your stats to make you "catch up" to the others. Or give you a better item, etc. Basically patching holes that he himself created in the first place. He is taking out Psionic healing because the stupid rules change he made to all healing spells made Psionic healing too powerful, according to him. Again, if I had the option, I'd tell him to get lost and find myself another group to play with. Until then, I'm stuck with him.

He has killed the older members of the party. Several times. In the last battle before the group disbanded, he killed ALL of them.

Oh, Fighter and doctor? One word: MEDIC!!!!!!! :D

Andor - *shrugs* We play the cards we are dealt.

Your Heal skill isn't going to be great regardless, though. Make sure the party doesn't depend on you for that.

JDVN1 - They might not want to rely on the abrasive doctor that doesn't seem to do anything. I am not gonna tell them of my Psionic abilities and with an almost impossible to fail Concentration check, they won't know that any spell that goes off is coming from me. As far as they are concerned, I'm just the Fighter with armour, shield and a crossbow.
