Fighter with high charisma?

Levels of Sorcerer are a nice idea, really, especially four levels of Battle Sorcerer. Things like Enlarge Person, the ever-popular True Strike, Ray of Enfeeblement, or, for a person with a reach weapon, Grease are all great 1st level spells. False Life, Bull's Strength, Blur, and Mirror Image are all interesting options for 2nd level.

Knight benefits from a high Charisma, if you are going to dip that class I'd recommend 3 levels however for the Bulwark of Defense class ability, or 4 so you get no movement penalty in medium armour and test of mettle (which would really suit a penitent warrior, and also be another use of the High Charisma). It's perhaps really only worth considering if Mounted Combat and/or using a shield appeals to you, as they are the 2nd level kicks.

A single level might be worth it as at least you get one Charisma based class ability, the Knight's Code though really restricts you, but could suit the roleplay aspect of the character you've described.

If you're just looking at paladin for the divine feats, one level of cleric gets you there faster. You lose a BAB but gain a couple domains and access to a lot of spells via wands or scrolls.

If you're going this route, a LN deity will suit best as that allows you to be LG, LN, or LE without having to change deities or atone or whatnot.
