Fighting Styles and kenshin characters

questionmark

First Post
I have a very combat oriented set of gamers and i think that letting them customize their fighting styles would be something they would dig. Also having them face npc's that have unique fighting styles would be cool too. I am not sure how to go about this so any advice would be grateful. Maybe some of you have tried this already and know of things to avoid or whatever. oh the average lvl is 13.

as a side note does anyone have stats/npcs based the kenshin characters? or has anyone tried to mimic any of the kenshin character's fighting styles for d&d?

thank you for your help,

?

Kenshin Himura is a highly twinked out Rogue3 / Fighter7 / WeaponMaster (Reversebladesword) 10.

The guy with the Zanba-To has his own prestige class based around acquiring natural armor, damage reduction, and strength. He's really more of a brute force type.

A fighting style should be acquired in one of the following ways:

It's Free.

If this is the case, all you have to do to acquire a fighting style is train under a teacher for a while, and then you add it to your list of known styles. A style offers a benefit, but also a notable disadvantage. Switching between fighting styles is a full round action that requires fierce concentration (i.e, a concentration check if you're interrupted.)

It takes a feat.

If this is the case, it should simply offer you benefits in a specific sort of fighting and have no downsides.

Interesting

the only thing is you have to make a good balance between the up sides and downsides to the class

i.e. a power tech where every attack is +2 to dmg but this requires the target to give everything he has leaving him in less deffensive situations

or maybe a guy that only gets one attack/round he sacrafices all attacks for one mighty blow down side if he misses that sucks but if he hits it is devistating

or simpler things like a stance/style where while you are in your defense stance you can only move half speed but you get a bonus to AC

or oooo maybe a character with spring attack could attack move attack move attack... like super spring attack but the down side would be...less damge or less strike because he cannot take them time to fucos on each target

well thats all i can think of and i like the ideas but i feel sorry for the wizards in the group that get poop in a bag i mean man really must suck to be them you might want to give them something REALLY cool/powerful/awesome

:D

This may not be the best way to stat him, because he really should be faster and tougher (higher Con and Cha). I put the 8 in Con or Cha and the 10 in the other, but bumped either one to 10 by 8th level. Then points went in Dex, Int, Dex. I'm not sure what the Mitsurugi Style Feat would be, but something along the lines of speed. Also, instead of one of his later feats he may have a Mitsurugi Mastery or something.

He could go into rage during his Battosai years and during his wandering (usually only at the prodding of Saito) but after Kyoto he returned to lawfulness, never to rage again.

Technik

Thank you for the stat ideas but what is the Mitsurugi Style Feat? What would the stats look for Hiko, seta or saito?

Also thos are some great ideas foer weapon techs!
I like the spring atack tech it is very interesting.
what about a spring attack cleave like style?
where if you drop the first enemy you can move within your spring attack distance to attack another enemy.
