fighting with a 'defending' double weapon....

Or it could be asked, whether attacking with a quarterstaff normally ( without going for additional off-hand attacks ) invloves using both ends?

After reading this I wondered. A monk can freely interchange his normal attacks per round between both his hands and legs (as stated by Skip Williams in the FAQ). So if the said monk would employ two different kama's. One with a flaming enhancement and one with a shocking enhancement would he be able to decide which would function on which attack? So could the monk with a BAB of +11/+6/+1 use the flaming kama on his +11 and +1 attack and his shocking one on the +6? If so couldn't someone with a double weapon do the same?

Note that a monk making a Flurry of Blows with two special monk weapons carries a special limitation - his ordinary iterative attacks are all with one weapon, and the extra attack (from Flurry) is with the other.

That said, I don't think there's any harm in letting any particular strike be designated as coming from any particular weilded weapon, as long as any attacks with the same BAB come from different weapons.

For example: Let's say you were dual-weilding shortsword and dagger at +12/+12/+7/+2. Under the rules as written you could attack s/d/s/s or d/s/d/d. I don't think it's a problem to allow s/d/s/d or d/s/d/s, if that's what you want. (I wouldn't allow s/s/s/d though - then you're getting both your high-bonus strikes with the same weapon.)

Heck, if you wanted to attack at +15/+10/+5 and use s/d/s or some other combination, I'd say go right ahead, more power to you. It's a style thing that isn't going to give you a game bonus (except under very unusual circumstances), so there's no real reason to disallow it.
