Maybe she's simply rebelling against her own manufactured image and to spite the media for their perpetual disdain of everything she does. It's a drastic move, and may not be the most balanced thing for a young mother to do, but if she's trying to make a clean break from her old life then it certainly is bold. I dunno. Maybe it's just another stupid stunt or maybe it's the turning point when she stops acting stupidly and takes her first step towards becoming a grown-up. :\

I think this is a good time to play the Occam's Razor card. She did it because she's nuts! Why else would anyone marry and have 2 children to K-Fed? :D

Well, I'm not sure I'd say it quite that way, but...

To me, hers is a sad tale. You've got someone who:

- Is probably not particularly bright
- Gained a tremendous amount of fame and fortune at a very young age, when she likely wasn't emotionally equipped to deal with it
- Has been termed "washed-up" while still in her early 20s
- Has made a series of unwise decisions, all of which have wound up plastered across the media

It does seem that she's got some significant mental / emotional problems, and isn't getting (or letting herself get) the help she needs. Checking yourself out of rehab twice in a week isn't a good sign.

It certainly can't be helping her that she's a celebrity in a culture that's become completely obsessed with celebrities, and that she can't pass wind without it making "Extra" and "Entertainment Tonight."

You're right. I can't imagine that all those factors would have helped the situation.

I think Britney did it to spite Anna Nichole. She was envious of all the airtime Anna Nichole was getting lately... Funny how shaving your head can get you one days worth of more attention then a three ring circus featuring a dead playmate.
To feel upstaged by a dead sad woman makes Britney more pathetic. I don't think so.

The latest rumor I've heard is that Federline was going to be fighting her on child custody in the divorce, and was rumored to be seeking to have her hair tested (as evidence of what drugs she might have been taking), in order to have her ruled as an unfit mother. Thus, she had the hair cut off.

So, now, today, there's an emergency child-custody hearing, anyway.

In today's installment:

- She's checked into rehab for the third time in a week, having been taken there by her mother on Wednesday night.
- Emergency custody hearing cancelled, as she apparently agreed to leave the children in Federline's custody while she's in rehab.

Cripes.

Kenobi, I just read this morning she already checked herself out of rehab for the second time in a week. Kinda at odds with your bit there :uhoh:

Also, I just had a weird epiphany of sorts: I think our next step for our wildly spiralling starlet is attempted suicide, with possible success. I not sure why, it just seems like that is what will happen

No, you just read old news. You really need a scorecard to keep track. :(

Here's the most current CNN story: http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/Music/02/22/britney.spears.ap/index.html

1) Apparently, she checked into a rehab place (possibly one in the Carribbean, founded by Eric Clapton) late last week, and checked herself back out a day later.

2) Then, after the head-shaving and tattooing of the weekend, she checked herself into a rehab facility in Southern California on Tuesday, only to check herself back out on Wednesday morning.

3) She then checked herself back into that same facility last night (Wednesday).
