Filling Class/Role combos

Well, of course they weren't going to fill every spot on the grid, at least in the PHB; you can't fill twelve spots with eight classes.

That they might be doubling up role/sources in the PHB, though, bothers me. When you have eight classes, any doubling up on the grid means either one role will have only one class, or one role will only have one power source.

I don't understand why it would be even slightly awkward to have a divine striker, though. A divinely-powered "smite foe", sort of like the 3e paladin's Smite Evil on steroids, works perfectly well as an equivalent of sneak attack.

"leaders are healers," "clerics are leaders," and "the druid is just as good of a healer as the cleric," resulting in druids being leaders (...)

Your logic is flawed. Even if it was stated that "leaders are healers", that doesn't mean that all healers will be leaders.

I consider the Roles video interview between Gamer_Zero and James Wyatt as official information.

Your opinion doesn't make it official.

edit: about official info: things are changing even as they come to public, and it seems not everyone involved on design and development has all the current information so, in my opinion, we should take all of this with a grain of salt.

Never said it did. The fact that it's an interview of James Wyatt by Gamer_Zero about 4th edition makes it official.

Unlike their 3e counterparts, every Leader class in the new edition is designed to provide their ally-benefits and healing powers without having to use so many of their own actions in the group-caretaker mode.

Everyone. Healing powers. That ties up the leaders are healers bit.

Yes. There are other healers in the game. The paladin is evidence of that. I'm not arguing that point. I'm simply stating the fact that James' comment was not off-the-cuff. When asked a question you don't want to answer, or cannot answer, you do not respond: "Just as good. Right." There is no wiggle room there. It's a solid response to a leading question. It's not "maybe, kinda, sort of, sure, could be, might be, should be..." None of that. It's a simple, solid "just as good. Right."

The leaders are the designated healers in the game. They are the best healers. From editions past, the cleric has been the best of the best. The cleric is the basis of the role, hello. For any other class to be "just as good" at healing as the cleric, the would have to be a leader.

Total aside. Unless you consider the Roles video "official," what other source to you have for the four roles?

Since this is the dozenth time we've played this dance. Let's stop. I've stated my position and I will assume you are not swayed by my argument. Can we please get back to the topic?
