D&D 4E Final Fantasy Races for 4e

Seven, Ten and Twelve.

That site was interesting. Not too much help, but interesting. I'm definitely going to look it over some more.
 

Hume - all games
Moogle - nearly all, especially from snes-era forward.
Vieara, Bangaa, Nu Mou - Final Fantasy XII (or other FF games set in Ivalice like Final Fantasy Tactics). Viera are rabbit-like, Bangaa are reptilian-like, Nu Mou are dog-like.
Cetra - human-like race with enhanced magical abilities from Final Fantasy VII (Aeris was one)
Ronzo - Final Fantasy X. Blue-furred lions, sorta.

I don't know, I really can't see Cetra and Al Bhed as anything but humans plus some flavor text and appropriate skills. Works either way though, and the abilities don't look bad.

I remember moogles usually didn't fly, or only a few did. Sounds like something they would have to take a path towards, not get at level one. I think there was a moogle minigame in FF7 to this effect as well.

Thanks, and good point about the moogles. I guess they will probably end up getting a flight mechanic like dragonborn will (I am getting the feeling that flight is something they "pick up" as well.)

I agree with the Al Bhed, since they just had a different culture from the rest of Spira's humans, but the Cetra were definately not normal humans. They had an innate connection with the planet's lifestream (being able to communicate with it) - they weren't simply humans with special training.
 

We need to make sure that Humans have an added ability to have super spiky or flippy hair that defies gravity. I know, I know, most FF characters have that, but Humans seem to have it esp bad.

Do you realize that saying such a thing is a lot like saying that you don't recognize something in D&D from the D&D movie? The Final Fantasy movie is not a terribly good thing to base any knowledge of the Final Fantasy games upon. I mean, I liked it myself, and it does have a few thematic similarities to FF7, but it really doesn't compare. Thinking about it, even the two Final fantasy anime series don't really shed a lot of light on the FF games...

Back to the topic at hand, I agree that Cetra and Al-Bhed work more as cultures than as different races. And if the latter does work as a race... What is Yuna? She is half Al-Bhed, so would she qualify as a Hume, Al-Bhed, or something else under this distinction?

The lack of an Esper or Half-Esper race is noticeable. Also, if you are going to add the FFTA and FFXII races, you still have a few more to go. :) I don't like the Seeq, but they will be useable in FFTA2, and there are at least two races of winged people (feathered people and dragon-winged girls) that probably qualify because of Revenant Wings and FFTA2. I also think the Garif are pretty cool...

Beyond that, I think I will hold off on criticizing anything until I can compare them to the races in the 4E PHB.
 

I mostly just created the races that I was interested/was already using in a campaign that I would like to have converted to 4e eventually. I am also not familiar with the other races you mention, so I have no right to make that race based on my uninformed opinion.
