Final words...

Bhalag heads back to his companions, the corners of his mouth turned downward.

" Well, there are three seats available on the mail carrier, " he says, his frown becoming more pronounced. " The mail and the lightning rail should arrive at about the same time, so splitting up would not keep us seperated for long once we arrive. Rethlin, Zook should take the mail carrier, along with either myself or Kae. The other one will have to take the rail car. "

After a moment's pause, he adds, " I could blend in most easily in the crowds if I were followed onto the rail, but on the other hand I am also the most able to talk our way out of a tight spot if Rethlin is recognized. "

( Autumn apparently is feeling a little burned out if you read the Talk the Talk forum, so it would perhaps not be so bad if she were to take the spot on the rail, if nothing were to happen on that ride. )

Well, this works out nicely.
Kae volunteers to take the Lightning Rail, which is crowded, but for which she can get second-class seating.
Apparently there's some kind of magical beer being auctioned off in Karnath: all the first-class seats are occupied by merchants agents looking to purchase some and all the steerage seats are full of shifty-looking adventurer types looking to "acquire" some.

Kae fits right in, gets her ticket, and settles down to wait patiently.

Zook, Rethlin, and Bharag join the line for the midnight mail. Who's getting the inside ticket and who's sitting on the roof?

OOC: LMAO aj, that's probably the closest we will ever get to running into other characters of mine. I wonder if I could see mardigan.....

Zook unhappily settles himself down on the top of the mail carrier. He frowns realizing reading up here would be irresponsible to his books. " You know back when I was with the Library I had some really cool adventures. and non of them ever involved riding on top of a mail carrier. I swear I really do miss the good old days. Do you need healing Bharag? I have been dying to use some sort of magic all day, and that escape was just pure torture.

Ooc

Don't look. You know that bit in Back to the Future where McFly gets his mother to fall in love with him? It's like that.

The resulting paradoxes could destroy all of Khorvaire. I have it on good authority, in fact, that WOTC did not originally plan to have Cyre destroyed: they were working to develop it aggressively and had two campaigns set there to test mechanics.
One day the two campaigns had an uncontrolled interaction and when the smoke cleared, nothing was left.
It's in Monte Cook's secret history of D&D.

OOC: My gnome librarian is going to fall in love with my human fighter. That's interracial homosexuality, and a smart person falling love with a jock.....its unheard of. Zook is definitely not going anywhere near that lightning rail!!

*CLANG-CLANG*
*CLANG_CLANG*

"Night Mail for First Tower! Have your tickets ready for the guard! BOOAARD!!"

The inside passengers board first: Rethlin, then two dwarven brothers wearing House Cannith livery and sour expressions -- evidently they don't like business travel.
A scholarly looking bard and monk follow along, then another clerky-looking fellow climbs in until the guard pulls him back out.

"You're a top-ticket...let the inside passengers in!"
"But there's one seat vacant..." the clerk whines.

"Top tickets! BOOOAART!"
Bharag climbs up, then Zook. Then the guard bodily heaves the clerk up after you.

"And stay up there!"

Lackeys load the boot with luggage -- you are requested to place your packs and weapons in the boot, especially if you're traveling inside. The mail coach isn't too much larger than a skycab and spending six or so hours with someone else's mace in your face is very uncomfortable.

The guard and driver confer about who they're missing. The lackeys are straining to fit in the last large footlocker.

"Wait! Please wait!!"

The veiled woman Veyk saw before is running nimbly towards the mail coach, waving a ticket.
"So sorry!"

She thrusts the ticket in the guard's face and goes up to the top by jumping from the wheel.
Halfway over the edge she stops and does a double-take.

"It's the young master from the library! Good evening!"

Zook, you recognize her as the woman who was shelving books: you can see the outlines of her skull tattoo through her veil.

It occurs to Veyk that this person has never seen Bharag.

Zook waves at her " And where are you headed, my elven inclined scholar friend?Oh, I am sorry would you like to sit with us? Zook motions suddenly excited at the thought of intellectual conversation.
