Final words...

Sedar raises an eyebrow.

" Rush the skytruck? If you keep suggesting tactics like that, I think that even I will start believing you do be the Mad Zealot. "

" I think it would be best for us, or perhaps me, to try and take them in the doorway one at a time. With whatever protections you can lay upon me, I could probably make a much more formidable warrior than any of them. "

Rethlin looks puzzled. "You mean the door to the guard shack we are standing in now? That would mean getting them to come here somehow so we can ambush them. Very well, either way the alarm is likely to be sounded. A better plan would involve getting into the Main building undetected, but we seem to have no means of doing that. At least if we rush the Skycoach we can gain possession of it immediately if we win the first fight."

OOC: There is a lot of open ground between us and the soldiers. Do we go to them or have them come to us? If we go to them we at least have a shot at securing the Skycoach. What have I missed?

( Well, for one thing, you missed the part where the two of us have terrible move silently modifiers due to our armour and shields. Also, if we were to be surrounded, we would probably be screwed. So, I would rather that they come to us. I think that perhaps Kae should get their attention, blast the first one that comes into range, and then have me move into the way to take them head on. If there is room, we could draw them in so that the two of us could attack at once, but otherwise it would probably be better for me to holding them off with whatever protective spells we have available because that way you can heal me without having to make concentration checks or drawing attacks of opportunity. )

OOC: Yep, let's go for it.

Hardening his resolve, Sedar whispers, " Well, this is what I am thinking: Kae, get ready to blast the first person that comes into range, because I am about to announce our grand entrance. After you do, I will step in to meet them at the doorway. Rethlin, I need you to get ready to heal me, and maybe join the melee if I am pressed back. Whatever that scroll is, make sure you use it well. Zook, you might want to save your spell for an emergency, in case one of them tries to flee and warn Manticore. If this goes according to plan, hopefully we can hold them here and cut them down one at a time. If we are really lucky, James may arrive with a detachment of the local watch, not that I have that much confidence in the number and quality of recruits around here. "

After taking a deep breath, he asks, " Is everyone ready? "

Kae shrugs. "Let's give it a shot, I guess. Just hope that they don't decide to stay where they are and shoot us, or call their friends."

Zook frowns, at how he has been fooled and is now useless when the team needs him most " OK, I will give the party a blessing as soon as you guys decide to put the plan in action, may the Sovreigns look over us all.

Zook crouches back down nervously, realizing the time may come during this battle where he may have to go toe-to-toe with Manticore, without his spells to help him. He swallows hard thinking to himself, I'm really just a librarian.

"Very well, I am ready. With this scroll I can place the protection of the Flame upon you Sedar, you will need it. Might I also suggest we announce our presence discretely, maybe they will only send a couple of the men over here to investigate at first, making the odds better. Perhaps Master Zook has a phantom sound or a sparkling light he can conjure to spark interest yet not sound a full alarm?" Rethlin pulls another scroll out of his pack and puts it into his belt: Cure Light Wounds.

Sedar nods slighlty and whispers, " Okay there, just everyone get back a little, out of sight if you can. "

After everyone has had a chance to make their final preparations, Sedar calls out, " Excuse me? Is there anyone around here who could direct me to the grain storage shed? I have been sent to retrieve a cart for shipment downriver, but they neglected to tell me which of these warehouses it was! "

( Bluff for 16, of course. Time to get our hands dirty. )
