Finally seeing RotK!

Heh, it still hasn't started in Japan.

For weeks I've been planning to attend the Feb. 7 late night week early preview they do in Japan, or to catch it opening day on Feb. 14.

Irony of ironies, about a week ago I was asked to attend a company meeting in the Bahamas starting Feb. 8, but I will have to leave Tokyo Feb. 7 to make it. By the time I get back it will be Monday Feb. 16. I'll probably be about the last big fan to see it.

Maybe I'm old and sentimental, but my eyes welled up in tears when I watched ROTK, whether I see the Ride of the Rohirrim at Pelennor Field or the Departure at the end of the film. It was a good ending, but I'm sad that it ended. :(

Now, I can't wait for August and December for the DVDs (theatrical and extended edition) to round out my collection.

I'm considering beginning an annual tradition of having a LOTR marathon with the DVD's each December, in honor of these three great cinematic years.

Same here. Without LotR to look forward to december just isn't december anymore. Also this way I can restrain myself from watching it too often - rarity builds value ;)
