I rented Signs last night, very bad IMO. EVERY time they were going to show an alien, exept at the end, the lights went out or something. It was billed as a alien's visit earth type thing but it dealt more with the family of Mel Gibson's character. It looks more sci fi then what it was.

That was actually the point. It wasn't about the aliens it was about the people and how the delt. I thought the trailers did a good job of showing that.

They said the aliens got beat and they did not show how the world changed after, thats people dealing with it and they did not show it. Also if the aliens get hurt by water, why the heck would they come to earth when its 75% water? its obvious they had advance tech, and scounting they would have ran tests on water and known, but they did not have any protection against it?

I thought the movie handled the "Human Factor" well, also the "wierd twists" were kind of cool. But that had to be the worst planned alien invasion ever.

Lets invade this primitive planet thats 75% battery acid, naked and armed with nothing more than Bio- cans of mace.

So basically your comment is "this movie was awful, because it wasn't what I expected it to be."

Signs isn't hard science fiction, which you seem disappointed with. It isn't about exploring the nature of aliens, or the possible future repercussions on society, it's an alien invasion seen from the eyes of a small family. It's about how an invasion would look to the everyman, the normal people, rather than the heroes and politicians that virtually all other alien invasion movies focus on.

It was also created to be a movie where the nature of the aliens was in doubt. Virtually all other alien movies make it clear from the very beginning whether they are about invading aliens or friendly aliens.

Besides, in the movie they made it quite clear that the aliens only landed in dry spots, and had come for a quick snatch and grab. People only discovered that water was dangerous to the aliens by accident, in only a couple of areas of the world.

Well it was not billed as a suspense/horror movie, but thats what it was, so yes I was mislead and disapointed.

Did you SEE the previews? The knife under the door, boarding up the house, children huddled in fear? I don't know who told you it was hard sci-fi, but that certainly wasn't the impression I got from the trailers, which I thought did a very good job of representing the film.

From the trailers, I thought it was going to be a suspense film, just like the rest of M. Night's movies.
